This crazy-great Mexican market with a restaurant hidden inside is a little-known Bradenton gem! I have been searching for an authentic Mexican taco and food joint for years and have finally found one, thanks to all my fellow Yelp reviewers taking the time to share their wisdom. :)
You won't find better food for as great a value anywhere ... particularly if you are looking to feed a crowd. You can get 25 LEGIT Mexican tacos (carne asada, carnitas, chicken, pork, chorizo) on fresh, house-made corn tortillas with cilantro, onion, lime and killer hot sauce for just $29.99! Or, choose 3 lbs of meat + 2 lbs fresh tortillas for about the same price! Add a huge bag of chips, a ginormous guacamole and salsa, some side orders of rice and beans .... And I promise you can feed 10-12 people for
Read moreI stopped here to check it out, because there is a hot food counter, and I wanted to check out their produce and spice sections. Everything was very fresh looking and well stocked. The meat counter had lots of good looking food and there were busy staff was cleaning and keeping things looking wonderful.
All the food in the hot food case looked good, considering it was almost 3 PM when I arrived.
I ordered the chicken salsa Verde, which came with a side of rice, beans (well seasoned & delicious) and a stack of small corn tortillas that were warmed through. The chicken was sublime. It was the best meal I’ve had in a long time, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I sat inside at the counter, there is a selection of salsa if I wanted it, and the people who served to me were very nice.
The store is a gem with lots of Hispanic and chilies and curry for Jamaican food meals. I did not try the bakery next-door, so it sounds like I should check it out as well. This was a real score, for someone who likes to haunt alternative grocery stores and experiences.
I’ll be making this my go to place to pick up spices, herbs, fresh salsas, housemade guacamole, fresh salsa, delightful produce options, comals, cookware, whole loofah sponges, and much more. This...
Read moreI usually eat from their prepared food counter on my way home from work or for lunch at least once a week. Everything is usually good and so is the service. Tonight was not so. I asked for a meal I have ordered for over 3 years since I've moved here. The girl at the counter said we don't do that it's per pound. I said that's strange because I order it as a meal all the time and sit down and eat it here. As I'm speaking she's cracking a smile and treated me like I'm stupid. She kept saying not asking that I wanted rice and beans with it, while having a smile that said I'm making fun of you. My heart sank because I don't like being treated that way and that is my favorite store in Bradenton and I felt unwelcome and sad. I finally said forget it, I don't want anything. Instead of an apology I got what are you doing I didn't do anything to you, why are you crying. If you are right away defensive...you know you did something. I said no thank you, and teared up from sadness and embarrassment. I will no longer be shopping and eating there. I feel dumb ever spending money there if I am not valued. That's a shame that a Latino has to put down another Latino. I'll travel a little further and...
