I got my hair and makeup done the morning of my wedding, and although I hadn’t done a trial beforehand, I was confident everything would go smoothly. While I loved my makeup, I wish I had gone somewhere else for my hair.
Originally, I had booked Asia to do my hair, but due to a mix-up, Danielle ended up doing it instead. Before I get into that, I have to give credit to Kendall, who did my makeup and was absolutely AMAZING! She was so sweet, guided me through every step, and really put me at ease. However, I did notice that they used testers for the products, which made me a little uncomfortable. For example, when the lip gloss was applied, she used a disposable stick to dip into the tester but then put it on a brush that had already touched my lips, and dipped it again. While I’m not sure what’s normal in salons, this seemed a bit unsanitary to me. Despite that, my makeup turned out beautifully. I loved the lashes, and the overall look felt sophisticated and perfect for the day. I highly recommend Kendall for makeup!
Unfortunately, my hair experience with Danielle was not as great. I had booked a formal hairstyle and had a clear vision of what I wanted—curls and a simple braid. However, Danielle told me she couldn’t braid, which was frustrating since that was a key part of the style I had in mind (also as a formal hairstylist, I feel like you should know how to braid). Several people later told me I could’ve easily done my hair myself, and honestly, they were right.
What really upset me was when Danielle accidentally burned my ear while curling my hair. Not only did it sizzle, but instead of apologizing or showing concern, she burned herself a few more times. I was very nervous that she was going to burn me again. Additionally the curling iron was extremely hot and fried my hair. My ear turned red at first, but now it’s brown, and I may even need to get it checked out. On my wedding day, I had to hide my ear, and now I’m on my honeymoon with a burnt, discolored ear.
Moral of the story: Kendall is a gem, but I do not recommend getting your hair done...
Read moreManager was incredibly rude. I was trying to return an item with no receipt and she wouldn't let me even though I pulled out my phone and showed her their website with the return policy on it. She was very rude, sarcastic and snobby the entire time and kept sneering at me and then looking back at the employees like "can you believe this".. I said it had been a couple months since I bought it. The policy was 90 days and she took a couple months to mean that it had been over 90 days... Or at least that was her excuse. It made no sense because a couple months equals like 60 days not 90 and I didn't have a receipt anyway so I could have bought it a year ago and said I bought it yesterday. I'm not sure it would have mattered anyway, she was determined to not let me return. She's literally saying sorry but the policy says less than 90 days and I'm saying. but it's been less than 90 days I said a couple months maybe! And somehow she just wasn't processing what I was saying or didn't care. We went back and forth about it for a while. The item was in perfect condition and something they still sell, I just accidentally grabbed the color I already had. She was so rude I started shaking from fear in the store and she gave me a very dirty look when she saw my hands shaking. I'm pretty sure she thought I was a drug addict or something. Nope just terrified of mean people who yell at me and make fun of me in front of their employees. As I was walking out I heard her turn to the two employees standing there also and start bad mouthing me. I cried on the way home. This isn't the first time that I've felt I've been mistreated at Ulta. In fact, Ulta is the only store where I have ever been treated this badly. And you know what else? I return a face lotion to Sephora last week which I had actually opened and used about 5x. They gave me no trouble and were really...
Read moreI took My mother in law of 95 years old in to Ulta today to get her hair done. I had called yesterday to see if there’s was an appointment time available. We set an appointment for 11:00 am . 1st of all we were early. 10:30. The doors were closed and it said opens at 11:00 . That’s fine however, we walked up to the door and they asked if we had a salon appointment and I said yes, but we are early. They opened the door and let us walk back to the back of the store. Then they told us that Mimie’s stylist was not to be here until 11:00 and we had to leave the store util she got there. So number 1 bad bad . She had to walk all the way back out to the car and was winded doing so. They had other people in there and there were chairs. Mimie asked if she could sit in the chair and wait. They said no your stylist would have had to be there early in order for you to be here before the store opens. Alas we had to go back outside and wait 30 minutes. That’s fine however. It took them 4 hours and 270.00 later to do my mother in laws hair . I am appalled. After 3 hours , I asked the girl to check how much it was gonna be. She said 105.00 I was cool with that. But when we left and they told my mother in law it was gonna be 255.00 I about crapped my pants.?i said to them , I asked you earlier what the cost was and you said 105.00 and now it’s 255.00 they really didn’t have an answer. Who the heck charges an 85 year woman 255.00 to get her hair done. On top of that, it took that girl 4 hours to do her hair . And they were not forth right about her cost. My poor mother in-law was in shock the rest of the day she in her 85 years had never had to pay that much for her hair and sit there for 4 hours seriously. So with. 15.00 tip to the stylist it was 275.00 I cannot believe this. Poor communication price jacking a poor...
