Sal's Spirit Shoppe — Local services in South Plainfield

This is one of those "if I could leave no stars I would" places. Three things: First, if you're not a regular and you happen to go on a Saturday night, with the crotchety old night(mare) manager/bartender, you will be treated differently enough than the regulars that you'll feel it. It kinda sucks. So, if you're a first-timer there, beware: you're going to be a second-class citzen, and you'll notice. Second, god forbid you skip your song ahead on the jukebox. Even though it's an option like any other on the app., "out of courtesy," the patrons are asked not to. And if you do unknowingly, since there's no sinage that prohibits this, you will get cursed at by the aforementioned bartender (apparently, one of the regular patrons was not adult enough to handle someone skipping her music for one song): "(carrying bucketloads of attitude) please don't do that. If you skip your f-ing song up, I will skip yours." Well, at least she said "please." Third, their alcohol is overpriced. I will NEVER step foot in this...

This has become my go-to spot at the start of the weekend because I get out of work late. I know that I can come here and get what I want a majority of the time with basically no hassle. There are locations closer to my home with cheaper prices and better selection, however, the hourse are not as late and that is the ultimate trade off. Still the atmosphere is relaxed and casual, it is not too loud, and the patrons seem to be generally friendly. I will continue to shop here until a better option presents itself. A group and I went to buy drinks bc it was the only place open at the time. We sat in an area to talk and wait for our ride after buying our drinks. Mind you, there’s enough seats for people to sit at. We waited for an uber while sitting in said area and during that time, we felt eyes on us from the staff. Then a staff member, I believe it was their security, told us we couldn’t sit there even though we had just made a purchase. Afterwords, we felt security continue to stare. Not a very pleasant experience, questionable customer experience—just felt...
