I tend to like going to the neighbor more; I fell upon this place by mistake because I always take the wrong turn.
They will charge you to degut he intestines etc; 50cents per chicken. They have deals every so often, it seems. Signs seem misleading at gate entrance as it noted ‘Longcheng $5 sale chicken’ something along the lines like that, but it’s only $5/chicken if you buy 100+.
Like all poultry or meat places that offer live poultry, it smells. Also, it gets stuffy even thought there is some ventilation to an extent; bring your own mask, unless, you don’t mind breathing in the debris.
It took me 3 hours to have them slaughter and degut my 29 chickens when I could have it done in less than an hour at the neighbor side. This place may beat the price, but not the convenience and time consuming. There are two elderly looking staff who helps with slaughtering the chickens and de-feathering them in machine, but, they’re also the same staff , who helps with degutting your chickens and they are slow. I could have done it myself, save me the extra costs, had I known they were that slow. This was my second time going there, maybe my last time. I rather pay a bit more to get out of there in a timely fashion. Oh, and they charge you for bags. But, it’s free on the other side. They’re also disorganized , because when I went to the staff , who helped with slaughtering, the man tells me that they’re busy and if there’s one staff (him) , then, degutting process for my chickens may not happen. Thing is, I paid for it to happen, so, how do you tell a customer that because you’re low staff, you can’t do it? If that’s the case, the front desk personnel should have specified that to me prior to me purchasing that ‘extra service’. By the way, the neighboring poultry meat place does not charge for degutting. You tell the staff and they’d do it with NO problem. But, LC meat place is a tad bit cleaner than the neighbor side.
You do go in and pick which chickens you want. It is a bit scary for newbies; it’s not like these chickens are stored in a farm like area. So, expect that they’re either caged or in a small storage area. My chickens were fresh and they were ok. The machine was a tad bit rough on the chickens as they bruised a lot on a few of my chickens. I rarely had this issue at the neighboring place;...

Read moreExcellent place to get meat. I have bought a cow and a goat on separate occasions. Mike, the owner is an amazing person. His staff are polite. He had been at this business for close to 40 years and can advise you which animal and gender to purchase for what you need. He always picks up when I call. I like the story he shared with me about how he started this business in 1982 or so. He had been trading in livestock out in the cold bitter winter of Minneapolis and nurtured the idea of having a slaughter house. He had many naysayers. Then one day he got the boldness to start this place. The rest is history. His boldness has become a blessing to the many families who gather there for fresh meat. Such a wonderful operation with a humble beginnings. He out to be featured in a magazine highlighting an amazing business in Minnesota. Good job...
