I called the Geek Squad helpline to see if I needed an appt to bring my computer in. The support person helping me was nice and seemingly helpful, but she either didn't know how things worked in the store or she intentionally mislead me. After spending more than 30 minutes on the phone with her she told me I'd need to take my computer (desktop running windows 8, which she knew) into the store. She also told me I would not need an appointment.
I loaded my computer in the car and made the 20 minute drive to Best Buy. Because I didn't have an appointment I had to wait. The wait wasn't bad, the bad came later.
When I finally met with an employee, he didn't call himself a tech and his knowledge level showed he wasn't a tech; he told me they couldn't work on my computer hardware issue because my OS was windows 8. The computer was too old was his only response.
Why didn't the support person on the phone tell me that? Why did she tell me to go to the store? Why does my OS version impact your ability to determine what is wrong with my hardware?

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would put zero stars if I could. I made an appointment on Sunday online to get my phones screen fixed I came in on Monday drove 20 minutes to the store was ask if my phone was under warranty I said no they told me they didn't have technician in. No call no notification nothing. So I was told by customer service I would receive a call.....nothing. so I called today made an appointment to get my phone fixed. I was told by the geek squad that because I didn't buy the warranty because I never purchased the phone from best buy they can't fix it. So again call customer service the ones who scheduled my appointment that that this is true after driving another 20 minutes so 1 hour and 20 minutes and wasted gas to find out my phone can not be fixed by them. So long story short unless you buy a protection plan from them they really couldn't care less about you as a customer or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery frustrating. This is the second time this has happened to me with geek squad. A guy comes to the house does an evaluation, seems really smart and we like the information he is giving us, and want to move forward with the products and have the work done... Then he says he will email us a bid for all of the things we discussed. No bid comes. A week passes then another. Meanwhile I am calling and calling trying to get someone to talk to about the bid never coming. They gave me the number of a guy. I called him it wasnāt the same guy but he said he knew who it was and would have him call but I never received a call. Why would Best Buy pay guys to do in home visits to people want to buy the products/get the work done but never follow up? Iāll never...
