My partner and I did the date night with Riley! She was awesome! Everyone did do at least one piece and she made sure of that.
It was my Christmas present and all of the class spots were filled up until February. There are about 10-12 people in a class at max.
I recommend wearing clothing you mind not getting dirty because you will. The class is $60 each person for 1 hour and 30 mins.
When you arrive you check in. Put on a apron and choose your seat. Everything is prepped for you in the beginning. Everyone does a little ice breaker. Then she shows you a demo. The demo is about 5 to 10 mins. She asks if you want the demo to be a mug or a bowl, in my case the class chose a bowl. It's one or the other. She gives everyone a piece of clay. Within the time period of 1:30 mins you can do up to 3 pieces, if you can. She did come around and help the ones who needed help. She will help you but make it your own of course. After you are done you will clean up your station. Then you will pick your finishings of your bowl/mug 3 choices. And she will give you a piece of paper to put inside your pottery and write a number, name, and color to finish it off.
After that the class is done! She was a very upbeat person and I had a fun class!
My partner and I did feel like the class would be a better experience if it was smaller, I'd say 8 people. Even then we had fun! Although there is a demo shown, pottery is hard. After the steps were explained it was totally forgotten. In the class you just have to wing...
Read moreChris was an excellent teacher and he had a very doable approach to teaching drawing. I am a life long draughtsman (person who draws) and I feel as though I work at a fairly advanced level. I think the class was geared more towards a beginning to intermediate drawing levels. As such, it was one of the best classes I have attended for that. Although I did pick up some very useful tips to improving my drawing, I found myself wanting some more challenging exercises due to my advanced level of drawing. I would heartily recommend this class to anyone starting out or looking to improve some newly learned drawing skills. Chris is a talented teacher and related to his students well with helpful suggestions and directions. He is also an incredible draughtsman as he shared some of his drawings with the class which we all enjoyed and admired and found very informative. Like I said, my ONLY criticism of the class was that I needed to go to another level or tackle a little more difficult exercise for my level. For beginning or intermediate level drawing this class...
Read moreIn October, 2022, I took part in a very inspiring plein air painting workshop with an incredibly talented artist, Kyle Ma. Lucia, the organizer of this excellent event, promptly responded to all of my questions and communication with her was flawless. As the painting sessions took place at the Salt Lake City National Park areas, some students were in need of daily transportation to and from the daily plein air sessions and Lucia kindly offered to carpool with those in need. On the final night of the workshop a dinner was organized at a local restaurant and it was excellent, and served as a grand finale' to what was a very inspirational experience for all the artists in attendance. Lucia knows how to make people feel welcome in a most natural and genuine way. As she always has some “Star Artists” offering a program of study in her studio space, I will surely be returning to participate in the new creative adventures hosted by Lucia and the WORKSHOPS SLC. Thank you!!!
