I dropped off guitars at Casino Guitars to have wiring work done that I don't have time do. I had called ahead to make sure that they could perform the wiring. I was told that it was no problem and to bring them in. These were simple point to point, color coded pre-made wiring harnesses that I had already dropped into each guitar. There was a Jimmy Page harness for a Les Paul Standard and the other was a small modification on the tone pots but otherwise it was a straight forward, normal Les Paul wiring harness since there was nothing that needed to be done out of the ordinary. Just a 2 wire installation.
They had my guitars for 4-5 weeks. They didn't do a thing for about 3 weeks. I had called them repeatedly to find out what was going on and continuously got the runaround, "He is going to get to it shortly" response. When I got the guitars back they had solder slag all through the electronics cavity, one (Heritage Cherry) Les Paul had no strings (not sure why it was absolutely necessary to remove new strings for a pickup swap and leave them off). You loosen the strings and swap the pick ups. The Les Paul now Buzzes at teh top of the neck and probably just needs a truss rod adjustment but what else then? As you can see from the picture of the simple Les Paul harness (Goldtop), the neck pot was burnt up and I can tell you it is ruined. The pot crackles from being overheated and it was surprising that as much solder that was used that the wires didn't stay. They popped right off in my fingers. That Goldtop now needs a set up. I'm not exactly sure what they were laying the guitar against but the neck is twisted and the G, B and high E are just dead! The guitar is unplayable whether the wiring harness was working or not. The tech called me and said that he couldn't get any sound out of either guitar and that he was going to take the guitars to another place and that it would not cost anything extra since it was not my fault. I said go ahead. I just wanted the guitars back at this point. The next day another employee called me and said that they were going to another shop and that I would have to pay for them to take the guitars to another shop to fix the guitars and that they would call me with an estimate. I told them to go ahead, thinking it might be a simple bad connection and maybe $20. I received a call a little later that it would be $400 (I am pretty sure it was each guitar, but let's say total) to gut them and fix them. I had installed brand new pre-wired harnesses ($160 total), so you can imagine the state of these guitars and the frustration when I was told that I was going to have to pay this amount to have my guitars fixed correctly. I told him to forget it and bring them back. Later he called me back and told me to pick the guitars up at no charge. It's going to cost me a bit of money to fix these guitars and they are out of the rotation for quite a while until I can get to them and fix this mess or pay to have someone else fix them. This was my experience getting guitar work done at Casino Guitars. I would not recommend taking your favorite extension of your body to them for repair. Thanks Casino Guitars for blowing several hundred dollars of my hard...
Read moreI enjoy going to Casino Guitars and have been there several times. Because I live well over an hour away I would not call myself a regular customer because I can't just drop by. I was in the market for a Fender Custom Shop and knew they had a good inventory. Their online inventory showed they had a guitar which was very similar to what I was looking for except more of a relic then I wanted. I made the trip and when I arrived they could not locate the guitar I was looking for. It apparently had been sold on a busy weekend and had not been removed from the computer inventory. They were very apologetic and explained to me what had happened. That was not a big deal to me because I know they do a lot of business and someone could have purchased that guitar while I was on the way. What is remarkable is how well Baxter, Sean and the other staff members treat their customers. They are very friendly and helpful and are willing to sit and chat about your guitar interests and how they can help you along your guitar journey. They do not keep the Fender Custom Shop guitars for "looking at" only behind the counter. They made sure I had an opportunity to put my hands on several guitars and compare one to the other. Baxter also took the time to show me several guitars that had just come in and talked about the different finish options available from the custom shop and why he preferred one over the other. I highly suggest if you're within a 2-hour drive to make the trip to this shop! If there is something specific you see online call first if that's the only reason you're going. I do not think you'll be...
Read moreI recently acquired my first Fender Custom Shop guitar from Casino Guitars and the experience could not have been better.
I have been following Jonathan, Baxter and other members of the team on YouTube for quite some time. They seemed like genuine individuals, passionate about guitars and the music industry. When I decided to order a Custom Shop Stratocaster, I wanted to support their local business, especially given the countless hours of knowledge and entertainment they provided me over the years.
Although I have a few guitars, I have never had one build to my specifications. I had an idea of what I wanted but was tentative given all the choices and options available.
When I emailed Casino Guitars, they responded quickly outlining the process, timelines, expectations, and price range. When I was ready to order, I submitted the forms and was contacted by Jonathan directly to schedule an appointment to discuss everything.
Jonathan could not have been more engaging and helpful. Where I had questions or concerns, he was able to advise me based on his considerable experience. He made the entire process effortless and stayed in contact to let me know how the project was progressing.
I received the guitar in roughly 7 months and I am delighted with the results. The instrument is amazing, even better than I had imagined when I started this process.
I cannot wait to start my next project with Jonathan and the team at...
