We have been huge fans of Pace Yourself Run Co. from the day it opened in Southern Pines as R.I.O.T. We love shopping locally, and this store has been such a blessing for outfitting our entire family, which ranges from two old slow-jogging half-marathon runners to an elite college half-marathon/marathon runner to an adventurous pole vaulter to a picky middle school athlete who requires just the right arch support in his "comfy running shoes." The Pace Yourself employees have always worked diligently and tirelessly to ensure each one of us (no matter how particular) gets the shoe that will help us best accomplish our personal athletic dreams and goals, no matter how long it's taken to find just the right shoe. These workers are friendly, knowledgeable, patient and kind, and they've always given us honest and authentic feedback on the shoe we want versus the shoe we need. We've never been disappointed by their suggestions and recommendations, and the quality of the shoes they sell has been second to none. Our shoes have long outlasted the miles we should have been able to put on them.
Our favorite part of Pace Yourself, however, is the way this store invests not just in runners and customers but how they invest in the community at large. The store frequently sponsors spike nights for the local track and cross country teams, offering discounts on shoes high school students can't always afford. They've donated hundreds of dollars of products to fundraisers like the Back the PAC night to raise money for Pinecrest athletics, and they've invested generously in the greater Moore County running community at large. This fall, they even donated a generous number of gift cards to serve as prizes for a local 5K raising money for adoption and orphan care. They treat their employees as generously as they treat the community, and we just love shopping locally at a place that values and re-invests in PEOPLE.
There's truly no place else in Moore County you can get the customer service, expertise, experience and kindness of the crew at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn Wednesday before Thanksgiving my 35 year old daughter was in town- runs everyday as she is a very experienced runner from marathons to smaller 5kās- being in town as we were decorating a tree downtown. I suggested she go in to this store and pick out a couple pair of shoes I could get her for Christmas- she lives in Boston and we like to shop local when sheās here. She went in- two guys behind the counter just having a great conversation between the two of them and then someone came in they knew and there were three standing around the counter chatting. She wanted to try on some topos and another pair but she was never even acknowledged ā until she was walking out the door THEN one of the guys said goodbye! Really??? Needless to say they have definitely lost our business and a few hundred dollars ā this is about the 4th time weāve attempted to shop here and never once been asked if we needed help. Iām sorry- you need to at least say hello if you donāt care to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI cannot say enough good things about this place. The owner is so knowledgeable and helped me get into the BEST pair of shoes I have ever owned!!! And the best part...she was able to do it virtually amidst the pandemic closures. She had me send a video of me walking and squatting and as able to evaluate what might work best for me. She heard all of my concerns and then far exceeded my expectations with what she provided! I LOVE my new shoes and cannot believe the difference they have made for me and my running. I'm running farther and better than I have in years and with zero pain. She also fitted me with the best running bra I have every owned and I am not an easy size to fit! I highly recommend Kelly's expertise. Her love and passion of the sport of running is so obvious and her ability to really listen and help others is just unmatched! Go to RIOT!!!!! You will be so so glad...
