After our middle school Odyssey of the Mind team advanced to World Finals at Iowa State University, our biggest challenge next to fundraising was figuring out a way to transport an entire trailer of handmade pipe and cardboard props to Iowa.
Jenny, the manager of the UPS Store in Southern Pines, made it so incredibly easy.
Not only did she spend time on the phone personally walking through the options, but she and her crew spent an entire weekend building a custom crate that would allow us to ship the kids' handmade props without bending or deconstructing them.
We dropped a trailer full of extremely fragile and delicate scenery and props, and she and her crew hand wrapped, fully padded and fully packed the crate without a lick of help from us. By afternoon, she had sent me pictures of all items packed inside the crate, and, knowing how important these props are to the kids' success, she personally sent us updates throughout the shipping process.
The crate arrived at Iowa State in less than a week, and seven 7th graders breathed a massive sigh of relief that, when they arrive on campus, their props will already be waiting for them.
Jenny was kind, professional, helpful and this team's biggest cheerleader as she treated our props as if she herself were a member of the team.

Read moreI shipped an envelope with two prescriptions 2-day air on 07/14, it went out on 07/15 (a Friday) and was to be delivered Monday 07/19. It has been sitting in Louisville since 07/17. It is now 07/25. I called the UPS Store and spoke with a woman to ask if I could receive a refund of the difference between 2 day air and just regular shipping and was told to hold and she would ask her manager. She never came back to the phone. So, while still on hold, I drove to the UPS Store to ask this in person. The person who had originally answered my phone call was there and helping a customer (I know because she is the one who helped me ship it in the first place). I got the other woman working and let her see my phone to show her I had been on hold for over 2 hours. She claimed if they picked up their phone its just dial tone (she didn't actually pick up the phone to check). I then asked about the refund and my package and I was told no, I couldn't receive a refund because 2 day air IS NOT GUARANTEED. It cost almost $30 for 2 pieces of paper. I was also told my package was missorted, so there wasn't anything they could do because they're not UPS just a retail store. She did offer me a discount for next day air if I could get new prescriptions, but I declined. No refund, ok - but being left on hold for that long and then being told to your face that you're lying? No....

Came to this store to do a return and emailed them with my return label to print out for shipping. I was told they cannot print my return label due to the new managers policy.
This store claims to offer EXPERT packing, shipping, PRINTING, etc. (see image)
As a store that offers the above services I was surprised to hear they did not support printing a document which they claim they are experts in.
The store also smells awful, appears the carpets need to be steamed cleaned. It is unpleasant to stand in line with the stench. from the carpet.
The 1 star rating is for the customer service. All the workers I’ve interacted with have been helpful and great. Seems like management is the issue in terms of policies and cleanliness...
