Earlier this evening, my girlfriend and I walked into the Dairy Queen on South Knoll Rd in Southern Pines to buy 2 ice cream cones. When we walked in, there was only a mother and her small daughter ahead of us in line. Outside, however, in the drive through line there were about 10 cars in line. It took about 5 minutes for a young man behind the counter to wait on the lady and her daughter in front of us. It then took several additional minutes before he handed her the 2 ice cream products she ordered. My girlfriend and I immediately walked up to the counter expecting to be waited on by the young man looking right at us across the counter. Instead, he just turned and walked away. My girl friend and I were a bit stunned. Even so, it had been brutally hot all day and we were still looking forward to our cones so we continued to stand at the counter waiting for one of the 3 people behind the counter to wait on us. And we waited. And we waited. Eventually, the same young man that walked away from us while we were standing right in front of him, came by and said he would be back in a minute. 15 minutes later, he still hadn't returned. By that time, all of the cars that had been in line when we originally walked into the building had been served and had left. The 3 people behind the counter, who were still ignoring us, were now filling more orders for another line of cars. After waiting a few more minutes, I finally called out to the young man who had said he would serve us 15 minutes earlier and said that my girl and I had been standing in line for a long time and that he and the other two Dairy Queen employees had serviced over a dozen cars, but not us. The girl sitting at the window said, "We have a lot of cars waiting outside." I said that we are walk-in customers, not customers driving by in their cars, and we've been waiting a long time to be served. She just laughed and all 3 of Dairy Queen's workers just kept on ignoring us and servicing the drive through customers. After a few more minutes, with all 3 of the Dairy Queen workers still ignoring us, my girlfriend and I walked out. I have been going to Dairy Queens from North Carolina to Cape Cod for over 50 years and this is the first time I have ever been treated rudely by one. This particular Dairy Queen will never see either my girlfriend or me in it ever again. If we decide to visit a Dairy Queen again, even though I live in Pinehurst, we'll go to the Dairy Queen in Rockingham where we are always waited on quickly and with respect. I am giving this Dairy Queen 1 star because it wouldn't allow...
Read moreIâve been to many DQs around the US due to frequent moves and travel. Having only come to this Dairy Queen once or twice, I am always left thoroughly impressed with how fast and kind their employees are. Their kind hospitality is admired and I really enjoyed the kindness they exposed me to when I was ordering from the register. I have been served by Lauren, Haley, Parker, and Jake to which I believe could potentially be the manager.. but Iâm not 100% sure. Lauren was very kind, attentive, and fast to helping out the drive thru orders. Our brief interaction was positive and she was seen on her feet ready to assist her coworkers. Haley I noticed, went above and beyond taking my order from the register as well as being quick to help her coworkers running the drive thru. I was impressed with how often she is seen working there and how long her shifts must me. Parker is very professional, polite, and a hard worker. He has been there everytime I have swung by and is very kind to me and my family. He is always heard greeting customers as âsirâ and âmaâamâ which is rare to hear these days. The previous visit I made, I went through the drive thru and met Jake who was found making our whole entire order by himself. I was impressed with how he managed to operate the drive thru while still tending to those inside at a reasonably fast pace. Whenever I sit inside and enjoy my ice cream, the employees are heard enjoying their time together as they take orders. Their laughter and fun conversations create a warm atmosphere that really makes the visit comfortable. Overall â great place and I recommend this location to those who are around the area. I am looking forward to coming back to get my usual medium cookie dough blizzard and medium strawberry...
Read moreMy daughter & grandchildren were treated horribly at the S Knoll Rd Dairy Queen in Southern Pines, NC. First, they were wanting chicken but were told that only hotdogs were available. Second, she tried to order the $7.00 meal deal (see poster picture) but requested the hotdogs to be plain because the grandchildren wonât eat the toppings. Instead of the two $7.00 meal deals, the employee charged for 2 hotdog meals (see picture of receipt) for $6.99. When the order was handed to my daughter, all she got were plain hotdogs. She had to ask for the chips that were supposed to be with the $6.99 meal instead of the fries wanted included in the $7.00 meal. When my daughter asked about the ice cream she was told that wasnât what she ordered.n, the employee did not ring up the order correctly and had an attitude when my daughter said she would pay the $0.01 per meal to get the $7.00 meal. The employee refused to make the adjustment. My daughter was told she would have to order again if she wanted the $7.00 meal deal with dessert. In the photo submissions you can see a picture of the $7.00 meal deal my daughter wanted versus what the employee rang up. My daughter never raised her voice but instead of helping her, the employee called the police and said my daughter had threatened to âblow up the place.â My daughter left because she wanted no conflict and it was obvious that the employee was trying to create conflict. Needless to say, my family did not receive good customer service at all. This DQ franchise & location leaves a lot to be desired. In a world where there are lots of places to eat you would think that an employee would strive for the best in customer service so customers will return. That certainly did not happen with my...
