Nonna’s Pizzeria used to host a pizza challenge where a team of two would be given 20 minutes to devour an entire 30-inch pie to win. Only one singular team ever completed it in the requisite time making it seem impossible, until one fateful day when Shawn (aka Basketlockerball) stepped through Nonna’s doors… He strolled in and effortlessly inhaled the entire 30 inch pizza in a mere 12:30! The owner thoroughly flabbergasted by this feat retired the challenge after that day. Sad to see a relatively close challenge get retired, I reached out to Ace Nonna to see if he could revive his pizza challenge so I could give it a shot. He originally said he would bring it back ONLY if I could be Shawn’s record (which felt ludicrous), but then he had an even wilder idea! He set up an entire day’s worth of Pizza eating contests instead! He blocked off the entire street and called in the news team for the occasion. The day began with an amateurs round where competitors competed to see who could eat an 18 inch pizza the fastest. The next round was a head to head match up between Southington’s fire department and police department to see who could eat the 30 in pizza as a team the fastest. The whole day ended with one final head to head between me and Shawn as we each ate one of Nonna’s 30 inch pizza solo. Shawn absolutely DEMOLISHED his previous record by eating the pizza in 9:32. I tried my hardest to clear the pizza in Shawn’s old time of 12:30, but ended up finishing it in 14:48. Slightly bummed I couldn’t snag a record time, I am happy with my performance being under 15 minutes which still landed me way faster than any of the teams that attempted the challenge while Ace still offered it at his restaurant. I was lucky to have such supportive home state crowd support! The last 5 minutes of my eating felt so laborious, but the crowd never stopped believing in me and cheered me on to the very last bite. The pizza here hit all the marks. Perfect balance of gooey cheese, vibrantly seasoned sauce, and a well done crispy crust. Even after eating almost 6 pounds of Nonna’s pizza, it never got any less delicious (just hard to chew after 14 mins of non stop eating). Huge thank you to Ace for working all day to make such incredible pizza and for reviving this delicious pizza challenge. I don’t know how he had the energy to prepare so many pies while also having the energy to get on the mic and keep the crowd riled up during each round. He’s as much a pizza craftsman as he is a showman.I hope he keep this a yearly tradition! I will defiantly have to come back for more pizza and beat my old time!

I have gotten Nonna's many times but I have to say its 50/50 if it will be really good or an awful mess. The sauce is good so I do try but I have had to send it back because of being burnt more than once. Tonight it's a mess. Its greasy and soggy on top and totally burnt on the crust and bottom. Black burnt. My daughter refuses to eat it burnt and to get a pizza for $30 and wait 45 min, not cool to get a burnt soggy mess. I am sad to say, that was the last time I will give them a chance.

This is hands down the best pizza in the area. After seeing a movie walking down the rail to trail place most restaurants looked pack. We smelled this amazing food coming out of this location.

Decided to go in it's a small family run little pizzeria, it was like Heaven. Does have limited limited seats, mostly takeout place. The family working there are super friendly. You say when you cook you put your emotions in your food they do.

Had the Nick's Special pie. Crust was thin and burnt crispy amazing. Not to heavy on the red sauce not much grease. The right amount of cheese. Flavors were great on the pie. The meat waa out of this world. The meatballs or sausages tasted homemade.

Since our first time service was awesome they gave us free Cannolis.

These are true friendly Paisanos. Check...

Ordered the 2 for $20 large pizza special from Nonnas on Slice at 5:20pm Tuesday and chose the delivery option. Pizza order expected 6:05pm. Looked at my Slice app, 6:00 pm out for delivery. I live 5 minutes away, great! At 6:30, I spoke with a Slice rep who called the restaurant. It will be here in 5 min. Okay. Another ten minutes go by and my order is canceled. WHAT?!? Well, first excuse was that I was out of the delivery zone ( I am up the road), second excuse - no driver (probably the real reason).

Change your services on Slice. Until things are changed in your system, I do not recommend this restaurant. If you take a delivery order, you better...
