Dr. Burry was unhelpful, pompous, and could definitely use a lesson in good bedside manner. He completely disregarded my concerns and didn’t offer any solutions or suggestions besides anxiety medication. I was appalled because I wasn’t experiencing any anxiety and it felt like a slap in the face. A waste of time and money when I was seeking help, just to be ignored and unheard. Especially when I was hoping for a simple inhaler, which I’ve been prescribed before, and instead treated like I’m crazy. The situation would be almost laughable if it wasn’t so incredibly insulting.
Edited to add: after a grievance committee reviewed my complaint they have decided my care was appropriate. I just want to be very clear in what happened. I went to the ER (it was my only option as it was 2/3 in the morning) after having an asthma attack. The doctor said I was having anxiety, even after I disagreed, and offered me anxiety medication. The next day I went to urgent care and was given an inhaler. I was officially diagnosed with asthma later with my primary doctor. I am LUCKY I didn’t have another attack before getting the inhaler. I think it’s disgusting they agree my care was appropriate when people with asthma can die without rescue inhalers. And to offer something more serious such as anxiety medication but not give someone who has been prescribed inhalers before one? It doesn’t make sense to me. It wasn’t about the money, not why I complained. I just wanted to share how they treat people with anxiety. It’s dangerous and careless. Knowing that higher ups at monument agree with that kind of care makes me wish I could go anywhere else but unfortunately don’t have that luxury. Thanks...
Read moreI recently began having several medical issues that required ER visits. I went to the ER in Rapid City twice in 3 days. I can't express how disappointed I was in regard to my treatment there. No matter how many times I expressed concerns over my medical situation, I was basically ignored, and pushed out as soon as possible. The Nurses treated me with more disrespect than I have EVER encountered. After a couple days of being released from the ER in Rapid City, and a severe resurgence of the same medical problems, I went to the ER in Spearfish. The Dr. And staff were more professional and caring than any I have encountered. Dr. Lee Baily.MD in particular was a true professional in every way, and made a diligent effort to diagnose and treat my medical conditions- 1 of which could have easily been life threatening in nature. I had infections, and was experiencing seizures. I can't begin to express my profound gratitude to him and his staff. They identified and treated my conditions accurately. I was treated with dignity and compassion- I NEVER post reviews of any kind on social media- but the medical professionals I encountered at Spearfish are a cut above the rest! They are truly Medical Professionals in every sense of the word. I likely owe them my life. In the future, if I need emergency treatment, I will go the extra mile to go to Spearfish- because they went the extra mile for me. I am eternally grateful...
Read moreCovid positive after 10 days I couldn't stop coughing so I went in to see if they could do a chest xray and ask for a steroid to stop me from coughing. I have a history of spring and fall bronchitis. I really thought that is what I had maybe both. So the one nurse was starring at the computer screen. The intake guy was making my wristband and he turned to the nurse and said where would you like to put her in what room? Out of her mouth came...well let's put her in 7 because of all her coughing we don't want her spreading germs all over the place.!!! Then she proceeds to say...why do these people with covid not realize if they have it that they are not going to feel well! OMG...really???? So I said to the intake guy really? Is she makin fun of me? Really did she really say that? That is so totally unacceptable. He at this point has a slight smerk and a giggle and says" we will get you fixed up" as he putting my wristband on. Omg really? I was planning on addressing it with that nurse when I left. But...I felt so bad I just didn't have the energy. But she turned to look at me once I walked out of my GERM INFESTED #7 EXAM ROOM...and I just glared at her and walked out. Not one person said goodbye, hope you feel better...nothing! Ridiculous behavior for an emergency room. Uncaring, insensitive...
