Having a hard time taking care of my mother I decided to put her in a home. We were greeted very welcoming and were given a tour by Tamika. I am my Mother’s only child so I am very new at having a disabled mother and dealing with this situation. Anyways I brought up the auxiliary grant to Tamika and she told me they accepted the grant. I was like great!! I immediately did the application for the grant but went forward with placing my mom in the facility around the time she should’ve been ready to go with the grant. Getting closer to her move in date I was told about the down deposit and I was taken by surprise when they told me the amount I was able to do but to help out with pay. Tamika showed me websites for me to take out loans to help pay for my mothers care and I was very surprised they did this being that she is an elder and don’t have a lot of money… so I decide no I’m not doing that. Any ways I end up getting the money to get her in and maybe two weeks later I find out she’s is accepted with the auxiliary grant. I was then told by the social worker that bickford doesn’t accept Auxiliary Grants. And I told Sierra (social worker) that’s what told me and that was the only reason I let her go there. So I went to talk to Shareek who was the director at the time and told him about payments, he basically told me I had to discharge her or find somebody to help with the payments. I also told him why would Tamika tell me a lie. He basically was nonchalant about it so…now I’ve been trying to get her rent paid since October… I called her insurance and trying get longterm care insurance through Medicare but if your not foreign they could care less. So now Justin calls me in April and they can’t work out any payment plans with me…so now my mother will be homeless with no care. Also the stealing I heard is ridiculous too…my mother had her echo speaker that has never been opened from Christmas a family member gave to her. Reported it to the nurses that sunday I found out. They told me they would tell the managers but it happens all time and how the nurses and maintenance men steal and never comes back.

Long story short they take advantage of desperate people and who has no help and no families and put them in more debt. Also you can’t use your pharmacy it will cost $100 a month to use outside pharmacies, Walmart my mom was only paying $10 or $13 for her meds now it turned to almost $30 something dollars 🙄😳….this place. But my mom liked the residents and now has to go to a shelter. But the residents tell her all the time they don’t care or won’t try to help you, they just want occupancy. Other than it’s clean but if you’re visiting it’s hard to find someone to answer the door since it’s secured. Especially on weekends, my family tells me they’ve waited at the door for about 20 minutes…sometimes...

12/29/2022 as I waited to see my father at 3:00 pm an AA female entered behind me and pressed her body against my back as I pressed the call button to buzz me in. She did not identify herself as an employee or otherwise. She pulled a pass key from her coat, and began waving it at the door pad. As I heard the door buzz, she stated “ put a little muscle behind it”. I ignored this random, UN warranted comment. As I made my way to my father’s wing, I got the attention of another woman who buzzed me through and provided me with information that my father was in his room. Upon seeing him, I was alarmed. Finger nails 3 inches long, the stench of body odor nearly knocked me over. Soiled bed linen, his hair growth past his shoulders, and wearing the same shirt he had on at his birthday on August 28, 2022 when I brought crabs for him to eat. I’m one person taking care of two elder parents and fighting his EX girlfriend to take a 20 yr. POA away from her while she distributes his worldly possessions to her children & grandchildren. Directors and nurses big turnovers on a regular basis and there is shortage of staff. The contract for medical services based on the resident's needs is not honored from assisting with dressing, bathing, teeth brushing, medicine being given on time, doctor check ups, the cleanliness of the room: trash not pulled, dishes not washed, laundry not kept up with, mixed up laundry being delivered back and when they do bring the laundry back they don't put the laundry away. Another cook, I wouldn't call him or her a chef, the food they prepare doesn't taste that good, but has quit again. They make a lot of promises, but they don't follow through, we gave them time to fix the problems, but they just have excuses. This was suppose to be a place to leave your parent in good hands, so you can stop being the major caregiver, but that is not the case, if you want your parent well cared for.
