I love Thai cuisine and have tasted authentic Thai food in Asia. I also strictly observe a biblical kosher diet which somewhat limits my menu choices (i.e. no shellfish, squid, pork, etc.). As such restaurant cleanliness ranks high on my priority list.
I ate at this restaurant under the prior ownership in 2015 before the new owners changed the name to Spice Thai Cuisine in 2018. You should consider this when reading any old reviews from the prior ownership.
The restaurant under the new owners is authentic Thai Cuisine and is vastly improved. It is light and the atmosphere is pleasing. It smells fresh; not fishy or filthy. I have personally visited the kitchen to compliment the chefs and found it to be clean and well kept. Some of the chefs are family of the Thai owners and don't speak English.
Try the Thai iced tea it's amazing. The food is fantastic with a wonderful blend of spices. The papaya salad is one of our favorites with a sweet lime dressing that will delight your taste buds. The curry and other spicy dishes would be considered mild by anybody used to Thai cooking, however the same may seem hot to those with a sensitive pallet. The Sizzling Siam Beef I would qualify as medium but I like spicy food, it has a delicious sauce but seems hotter than it is because of the fresh grated ginger on top. For those who enjoy spicy food, thai hot can be requested but you will need a towel to wipe the sweat pouring from your brow. You will want to save some space for the wonderful desserts the sticky rice with coconut custard is one of our favorites. Even the water is aromatic and delicious served with fresh apple and citrus slices.
The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous for a Thai restaurant. Due to the high cost of Thai spices some establishments leave you hungry and broke at the end of the meal, but not Spice Thai Cuisine. They also have online ordering when you can't dine in.
In keeping with Asian culture they keep a disciplined schedule. For example, the owner came to advise us before closing that they were closing the kitchen in case we wanted anything more to eat. Some westerners might consider that rude, however I appreciate that frankness. It shows respect for his employees. If you project kindness you will receive it and rudeness will beget the same. Guests should be gracious and worthy of honor.
I eat there on special occasions and whenever my Asian wife cannot cook for me and she is a chef in...
Read moreWell, I liked going here but the unprofessional service came across. I ordered my favorite thing to eat here, Tom yum shrimp soup, Thai tea and some crispy spring rolls. The lady here asked me if i wanted two orders of spring rolls, I got confused because it said crispy spring roll (2) for 3.95$... I said yes after the second time she asked. The bill came to 18.00$ just for some spring rolls, soup and a drink! I found out that she put 3.95 twice for spring rolls which gave me four spring rolls instead and I only wanted two. Ok? Honest mistake but hey, when I and my dad's girlfriend explained to her that we didn't understand what she was telling us and the fact that we told her we couldnt offord that much money over food, instead she just said oh well, I can't change that now as she looked over at the cash register and so instead of her being professional and saying 'oh, sure thing, let me change that real quick for you I'm sorry' she waited until they were cooked and in the bag with the food. My dad's girlfriend couldn't offord that much money just for that much food. We had to talk to her about even more after she was trying to get us to sign the ticket and give us the bag. She got rude with us and asked my dad's girlfriend if she was going to sign this next ticket after changing it finally, then she had the nerve to tellnus we were being mean and walked away, this was so far the worst service I've seen so far. I'm never coming back to this place again, she should have respected and understand we misunderstood her. This was an awful experience. It kinda felt as if she didn't want to change it just to get that much money out of us we barely had. This lady got me so upset on how she was treating my dad's girlfriend, and this lady is usually nice. I'm not ever stepping foot in this place again and telling my friends about this place that goes here. There are plenty of other Thai...
Read moreAfter a visiting a family member in the hospital, too tired to cook, my husband and I chose this establishment to have a nice meal. There were a couple at one table, there was no waiting and we were greeted promptly by "Phil" (that's the name on the receipt) . He motioned for us to sit at a table and brought us some fruit enhanced water and the menus. The atmosphere was relaxed and quiet. We hoped the food would be good as we thumbed through their HUGE menu. I quickly scanned the menu and chose Shrimp Drunken Noodles, Summer Rolls, Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango and Thai Iced Tea. My husband chose Tom Yum Edom Soup. I sensed I was taking too long to give my already planned out items, and felt a little rushed when "Phil" commented to my husband " "what? Are you not going to eat?" As I was still reading off my last item. I asked him, "do you really think he came here to watch me eat alone?" He's looking at the menu! I don't know if he was being funny, but the lack of smile or hint he was being funny told me otherwise. My husband ordered his soup and Phil, left us alone with out a word after we said thank you. I was tempted to leave but I wanted to try this place out. So we stayed and made small talk until our food was brought out. The food was good, the amount was very nice and just enough. It came out hot and very flavorful. We ate and cleared some space to eat dessert. The bill was brought out before we were done, again, why the rush, we were hoping he'd clear some stuff for space sake ? But ok. We know we all have bad days or things on our mind. 🥲. We hurried up and got out of there. I'd visit again but if Phil is there in a bad mood, I...
