Red River Gorge General Store — Local services in Stanton

I had a terrible experience here last weekend. I brought my 13 pound Jack Russell Terrier to the gorge to camp for the holiday weekend. I can easily hold him and every store in town was so sweet and welcoming, and so were the restaurants. At lunch at Miguel’s I told another group about this store bc I’d heard from two hikers that they had cute tanks. After lunch we all went to the store and when I walked in I couldn’t find an employee to ask if bringing my dog in was okay. Then a woman came up to us and very, very rudely told me that I needed to leave immediately bc dogs weren’t welcome. There wasn’t a sign on the door that pets weren’t allowed, I had no way of knowing. I left, and all of the people I’d suggested the store to left immediately as well. They said she was so rude to me that they wouldn’t shop there either. So ten people in all took their business somewhere else bc the woman was...

We visited this store Saturday while hiking at the gorge. This was our first time in the store so we proceeded to the back where the t-shirts were. My 11 year old daughter had to use the bathroom and we saw a door open to a restroom so she proceeded to use it. A store employee came after her and complained to another employee that people were using that restroom and she had to wait 5 minutes. I then realized it was an employee bathroom but the damage was done. She then proceeded to tell my 11 year old that there was a sign on the door and she shouldn’t have used that bathroom. I would think a “grown up” would know better than to try to belittle a child and if it were so important she would have found a parent. Waited over 20 minutes for 1 banana split... When I finally got it, it didn't even have a banana in it🤦🏻‍♀️ Went inside the store looking around, and wanted to look at some throwing knives to purchase for actual use/practice- wasn't allowed to pick them up to be able see their weight (which any person purchasing them would naturally ask to do, unless buying for novelty/display).
