WOW! Absolutely delicious food & an interesting experience as we stopped in at this Bojangles drive-thru. Keep reading …
Driving I81 heading back to our portion of the Northern East Coast from the Southern East Coast we spotted this Bojangles directly off of the interstate!
Growing up in Georgia, it was never unheard of to receive a phone call from Nannie W asking to swing in by “The” Bojangles to pick up her favorite, “Country Fried Steak Biscuit.” I know she would have loved the Cajun French Fries but don’t recall these back then.
The Cajun French Fries and Egg & Cheese Biscuit we purchased through the drive-thru at this location were hot & fresh; truly delicious!
To our surprise as we pulled up to place our order at the menu across the speaker came a “robotic/computerized” voice “Welcome to Bojangles, may I take your order?” No human?
Just then I replied, “Just a moment please.” In turn across the speaker was this remark, “Take your time let me know when you are ready.” 😱 🤔 😱
We proceeded with ordering a chicken biscuit combo meal with a sweet tea & was asked if the order was complete. I answered no, and asked for another large sweet tea.
We got to the window received the order without the second sweet tea believing that was the first error of their computerized system … technically it was but not the first error of the location. As we approached the entrance ramp to get back on heading back north … opening what was to be a chicken biscuit we found it to be an egg & cheese biscuit. The receipt was correct so this error occurred on the inside.😥
Is there a standing policy that if the customer states they were short a product would the customer automatically receive the product and if yes, where are those extra products being recorded as those are company losses.
With regards to the computerized ordering process, the drive-thru attendant advised it has only been in service for about two months. As a business owner, it would seem logical that at some interval in the making of the computerized ordering system AI must have been used; however, I do wonder how much testing was involved in an actual order simulation environment.
Nonetheless, it is imperative for companies who may choose to move to automated systems such as this to ensure they also have regular error detection and reporting in place as well for ongoing operations and systems improvements not to mention being able to capture the types of errors along with whether product miscalculations occurred which resulted in missed products having to be replaced or given at the window as those should definitely be tracked.
Simply placing a second machine where the attendant could easily push the product button since there is no money being exchanged should not cause any bottlenecks from occurring at the drive-thru. These steps would help reduce unwarranted waste while capturing company loss.
Overall, some improvements needed at this location but it was definitely an interesting stop to say the least....
Read moreTL;DR food is too inconsistent for the prices. Sometimes the food is fine and sometimes it is very dry. Possibly the hold times are not paid attention to well or this could just be what the company has decided as still "acceptable". I won't eat here again regardless.
I have a good amount of experience in restaurants, fast food and otherwise, in both management and basic level positions. Out of 3 different dining experiences, sampling different menu items, this is my resulting rating of this Staunton location.
My first time, the fries and country ham were excellent while the chicken seemed right at the edge or past its hold time by about 10 or so minutes. Very dry.
Next, later at night, the fries were memorably horrible and way past their hold time. This was around 9:00pm, so believe me, I understand. I once worked at a Burger King for a short period of time and I know the general feeling and morale late at night. Because of how good the country ham was the first time I decided to get it again, and also, much past its hold time. I'm not sure how hard it is to cook these items fresh to keep a steady supply up, but I was disappointed.
Lastly, on the third visit, the fries tasted what I would just call average and the chicken biscuit I had was very good. It had to have been fresh along with the biscuit being fresh as well.
I dont believe that the food deserves 2 stars, but the restaurant does for the lack of consistency. If I go to burger king or McDonalds and order food, I dont mind if my order is wrong or if the food tastes a bit old, because it's the nature of fast food and a symptom of cheap prices. But Bojangles is far too expensive for this kind of inconsistincy in their food. I can spend the same amount of money for food that is ALWAYS fresh and the same every time at Chickfila that is now right next door.
I don't plan to ever eat food at this...
Read moreBojangles crushed it on their opening day weekend. The service was great and speedy. There was a line to the door but we got our food in no time. The chicken was the best I’ve had at a Bojangles. Crisp and juicy. The store was a little hectic and messy but that’s to be expected when your business is slammed. I’m sure when the crowds disperse that they will have more time to devote to the dining room. Otherwise the interior is beautiful and modern. I’ve never been so surprised at how delicious and efficient a fast food joint can be! Shake Shack in Waynesboro was a disaster for their grand opening and they never recovered from it. Bojangles is doing it right and in my opinion a very welcome addition to Staunton. You know what? Screw it. I LOVE BOJANGLES! There I said it. Wow. That feels so freeing to get off my chest. Will be here everyday from open to close. Considering selling my house and living out of my car just to be close to Bojangles. Bo, will...
