Love the store, as I was in two days in a row to purchase gift certificates as Christmas gifts….however…the very large poodle dog that is allowed to “mingle” amongst customers actually nipped me twice while I was standing at the cashier paying for my gift cards. Yes, the poodle dog likely smelled my dog on my clothing which in turn made him aggressive. The young lady employee working the store register mentioned to me (with two other customers behind me waiting to check out) that sometimes the poodle dog (Winston? Winnie?) would nip if smelling another dog. The second nip was actually enough it pulled the back of my jacket away from my back. I pointed my finger at him and told him sternly no! The young lady employee came around the counter, got him and put him behind the counter. As I mentioned to the store employee when she explained Winston/Winnie (?) nips, that customers generally don’t like that, which included me. My thoughts are what if I had been a child that had another dogs scent and “Winston” became aggressive with nipping? Could have been an injury situation as “Winston” is an extremely large/tall dog and could easily hurt a child or the elderly. With the store owner and employees knowing that Winston is a nipper, they should never allow him to be in close proximity or mingle around customers, as they could never know who may come in to shop with another dogs scent on them. I felt as though this should be reported to allow future potential customers to know about this dogs aggressive behavior, and the store owner make corrections for preventative measures. Also, if the dog does bite a customer there is documentation here that his behavior is habitual, and owner/employees did nothing to prevent. I am an avid dog lover and owner of an 11 year old fox red lab. Never nipped anyone in 11 years. Scent or no...
