Personally figure skate at this rink. Not only was the heating almost nonexistent for almost a year, the new management is too cheap to even turn the lights on. There will be a decent amount of people in the building and the hallway lights are off and the gallery lights are off as well. They changed the lights to conserve energy and most likely money as well - but they dont even turn all those lights on either. Most sinks in the women's restroom do not work. Also not pleased with the concessions stand. I was told popcorn could not be made since the staff did not want to clean the machine. This is never an issue however because the stand is never open. A few years ago a meal program was put in place over the summer for skaters but now girls cannot purchase food as they can't. I would skate somewhere else but the coaching staff is amazing and love the skating community centered here. Most annoying thing are the lights though as they are turned off while you are...
Read moreIt’s a nice rink. The staff was pleasant and helpful and it was family friendly fun. However, the rental skates were in completely unacceptable condition. My husband and I were both given skates that hadn’t been sharpened in years, or at least that’s what it seemed like as our legs slid sideways from under us in an attempt to skate. Was able to exchange them for pairs that weren’t great but at least worked. The ones we were given first were NOT safe. And it couldn’t be a one-off if it happened to both of us. I saw more than one person stuck to the side of the rink trying to shuffle along unsuccessfully, and couldn’t help wondering if it was because they couldn’t skate, or if they had completely flattened and unusable blades on their skates as well. Sad if they never skate again because they don’t know it doesn’t have to...
Read moreI feel like the price is higher for less skating when compared to other places- for the weekends. You only get to skate for an hour and a half on the weekends. (Weekdays you can skate a lot longer). The basic lessons so far are either okay or really good depending on instructor (in my experience). Open skating is really crowded and practicing for any kind of previous ice skating lesson is prohibited (which I know is for safety reasons, but it seems counterintuitive for any kind of learning or practice). A positive is that it really warm compared to other places. Especially outside of the rink, but even in the rink it isn't too cold. The exception being falling onto the ice, which can make you...
