This hotel is filthy, and the customer service awful. Main elevators not working during our stay. The 1 and only elevator kind of working and it malfunctioned and we had to wait 15 minutes to even use it and wonder if we would get stuck in it. Couldn't get a luggage cart (before we knew the elevators didnt work) and when we did someone tried to take it and it was a problem. We were of course put on the 4th floor! Then we asked for a name for the restaurant or menu by calling the front desk. There was no answer for 8 minutes. Then when someone did answer and we asked for the restaurant name or a menu it resulted in the front desk agent, named Jade, to become hostile and rude telling me in a frsutrated and short fused voice it didn't have a name or a menu, you have to come down to see it. I was too tired after all this. Our room is dirty with sticky floors.
The next morning I called front desk to ask again about breakfast bc my daughter went down and couldnt find it. The phone rang again for about 10 minutes this time. I put it on speaker in my room and kept about my business. The same front desk agent answered again and I wouldn't know this BUT when I politely asked about continental breakfast and the restaurant again she said to me, "I already told you this last night!!!". How was I to know it would be the same front desk agent? I ask a lot of people the same question and get different answers. Does she not recognize I am a paying customer and not her child? To talk to anyone like that is rude much less a paying customer!!! She continued to patronize me with passive aggressive speech calling me hon and love several times in a demeaning tone. I asked for the general managers name and was only told Mrs. Crystal. I asked for Mrs. Crystals phone number and was told she didn't have one. Then I asked for an email and I was placed on a 10 minute hold. Then hung up on. Then I called back where Jade continued to threaten me telling me she would send an officer up and while on the phone started saying to someone in the background a bunch of lies. She wouldn't give me any information to escalate this whole situation to management and literally threatened me with a hotel security cop!!!!! I would never ever stay here again. And Jade has a lot to learn about customer service and should not be working the front desk. We did not chose this hotel, we are here for a volleyball competition and we were forced to stay to play here. The rating before this review was low. It is obvious why the rating is low. Save your mind and body from a horrible experience and stay some where else!!! Also the TV was unplugged (I figured it out myself when it didn't turn on) and the refrigerator turned off. Which makes coming in with cold items hard to keep cold! Cob webs every where, sticky floors, and the room phone only works if you hold the cord into the socket tightly. Be warned. Don't...
Read moreOur stay wasn’t very pleasant. We wasn’t able to check in our room because it had not been cleaned so they kept telling us to come back later and later and later. Once we finally got into our room after 7 PM it was mediocre at best. You would think when you ask for an ADA room It wouldn’t be located all the way on the other side of the building. The distance made it complicated due to me having a hard time walking. We asked for an ADA Room but found the room hard to navigate due to a desk placed at the end of the bed. I had a hard time getting past the desk because there was no room for my walker. After getting settled in for the night I had fell asleep and was woke up by some kind of an alarm that was beeping repeatedly. We tried calling the front desk but the phone in our room wasn’t working so I looked up the property number online and tried calling from my cell phone but the call couldn’t be completed. It wouldn’t ring. It would just end abruptly so I called the number for Best Western and tried to explain the situation to the customer service person. She acknowledged she could hear the alarm over the phone as well. She placed me on hold and tried to call the property as well but was unable to reach anyone because she also had trouble with the call not going through. She transferred me to another number and requested I leave a voicemail about the issue. My wife went to the front desk but said the guy at the front desk didn’t seem to care or want to be bothered by her or her concerns. She said he was very rude to her. This was a half hour after the beeping noise started so she returned to our room. The noise continued for about another hour. She decided to return to the front desk. When she returned to address the issue he was rude and dismissive to her acting like he didn’t want to be bothered with her. This noise began about 11:15 and continued until about 12:47. It wasn’t until a housekeeper by the Jeanne came off the elevator and spoke with my wife. She immediately went into the room next door and eliminated the noise. The part we don’t understand is let’s say the guy at the front desk can’t leave the front desk but why wouldn’t he radio the other lady on property and have her address the issue earlier? She was very pleasant but the front desk guy was not nice or helpful in any way. After the noise stopped I had a headache for about two hours that prevented me from being able to relax enough to go back to sleep. Overall it made for a bad night and a terrible day the following day because I hardly got any rest. I have reached out to customer service and nobody seems to care. I wouldn’t recommend this property at all. There’s no excuse for their lack of respect or concern for...
Read moreTotally fine! Disregard old reviews, they've fixed things. As of January 2025, the pool is open and very large and nice looking with towels provided (small cheap gym towels but they're there at all) there's a full hot breakfast (budget hotel quality hash browns and instant scrambled eggs, sausages, fruit, typical breads and cereal) included every morning. This is a discount location next to a truck stop (it was the halfway point driving between Chicago and New York) so don't go in expecting the Ritz, but it's absolutely fine for the price. Staff is very nice. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of pillows. Yeah it's all a little run down and has seen better days but it's clean enough, the towels and linens are brand new and meet corporate standards for any chain hotel. Some ice machines work on some floors. Shared communal microwave downstairs by the gas station style list push button coffee machine (no microwave, yes mini fridge and yes keurig in rooms.) Shower drained very poorly, but hey, first world problems! At least this is a country where you get to bathe in potable water piped directly to you as a standard expectation. Fitness center is extremely basic with 3 mostly functional treadmills and a few miscellaneous free weights but hey it's free and let's you get in a few steps on a rainy day if you've been in a car a lot. Walls are really thin and we could hear our neighbour's every grunt, but c'est la vie, I travel with earplugs for this reason.
For less than a hundred bucks a night it's absolutely worth it. Clean and serviceable enough. More like a motel 6 than a typical Best Western. If money were not an issue, would I stay somewhere a little less worn down? Sure. But for a regular working class person who does need to watch a budget this is totally fine, has all the basics and the staff is nice. They won't/can't fix anything if it's broken or missing (couldn't be bothered to go get more lids for the coffee cups in the morning) as they're clearly understaffed, underpaid, and doing their best with incomplete inventory, but everyone is well meaning and that's all you can ask for from a cheap motel next to a truck stop. Keep your expectations adequately low and you'll be satisfied. All I wanted was a room with no bed bugs and I got that. I was pleasantly surprised by the comfy bed and pillows that were real-...
