After watching a movie at the nearby South Park Mall, our group decided they wanted to do dinner at a restaurant we had never tried before. Enter Seafood Shake boil.
I will admit seafood is not usually very high on my list of food choices for a few different reasons but the variety on the menu had me confident I could customize my meal towards options I would enjoy.
I am very happy to report that I was indeed able to create a combination of items that really complemented themselves well and to which I was quite happy with. At first, the menu was a little overwhelming as there are a lot of options and choices to make. From appetizers, beverages, meals, stand alone items, and desserts.
Ultimately, I went with an appetizer of the pork egg roll and did a create my own combo. I choose 1/2 lb of chicken (was cut up like a pulled chicken style in semi chunks), 1/2lb of kielbasa, and 1/2 of peeled and prepped shrimp. I choose a lemon pepper add-on for flavoring, and no spice. It also came with a small red potato and a small ear of corn.
The presentation was something I had never experienced before but was a pretty cool experience. All the food comes out in a bag all mixed together. You mix up your items, then dump the bag onto your tray/plate. One person in our part chose the soup option and they actually brought out a little hot pot to keep the soup hot and cooking.
Everything mixed great in the garlic butter base sauce mixed in with the lemon pepper seasoning as well. It was way to much food and I had quite a lot left over afterwards.
For dessert, I had to try the chocolate milk shake I had seen on there social media. Size wise and presentation wise, it was quite impressive. Sadly, most of the cookie based items decorating the drink were quite soft and stale. Like they had been left out of their packaging for way too long. The milkshake itself was still great at least so ultimately it was still a worthy dessert.
A place we all agreed we would visit again and most likely bring other friends and...
Read moreAvoid this restaurant and save your hard earned money. I brought my wife here for her birthday because we’ve been to similar restaurants and really enjoyed them. We really wanted to like this one because it’s so close to home. In this case, the Strongsville location is absolutely terrible… which explains why it was almost empty on a Friday night at 7pm. The seafood was really over cooked, rubbery and the portions were tiny, but our bill total was close to $150. We both love seafood, but sadly both of us left hungry due to the portion size on a $40 meal. We asked to speak with a manager and very politely explained our disappointment, but she spoke very broken English and said seafood is very expensive right now, which also explains why the prices on their menu were scribbled out and rewritten in permanent marker. Please understand, we weren’t looking for a free meal, just a good experience, and we hoped that she might do something to make my wife’s birthday dinner right. She refused to do anything, not even a dessert for my wife, or a 10% discount on the meal or even a small discount on a next meal to come back. She simply reminded me that seafood is very expensive right now, as if that were justification for using teeny, tiny clams, shrimp and tiny little overcooked snow crab clusters. Not even an apology. Take a look at the size of the clams next to this normal size lemon wedge in the photo. There are actually 2 there and of the 10 total quarter sized clam shells with the dime sized meat inside, it doesn’t come close to the 1/2 pound it says you get on the menu. Our waiter on the other hand was great and tipped well. He clearly he felt bad, but there was just nothing he could do with the poorly run restaurant and terrible management, except feel bad. We certainly won’t be back and I would be surprised if they last more than...
Read moreI would give zero stars if I could-and that's coming from someone who has bartended and served in the industry for almost 15 years. I made a reservation for mothers day....MY mothers day dinner. We showed up promptly at our reso time and were barely even greeted...we were told it would be "2-5 minutes" because they needed to clean off our table....okay, no problem. We waited about 15 minutes and then another party of 3 walked in with a "reservation" just like us, the hostess said they were going to check if their table was ready and then came back a few minutes later and said "Okay, your table is ready" and took them back to seat them. I said something to one of the hostesses like, "hey, we've been waiting and had a reservation for a table for 3 as well, why were they taken back before us"?...he said "oh, yeah we FORGOT to save your table so it'll just be a few more minutes" so at this point we finally got sat at 6:30, a half hour after our reservation time. AGAIN, I understand how the industry is, its a holiday, i wasn't stressing it. BUT THEN we sat there and sat there, with no one coming to the table, servers walking past just ignoring the fact that they had a brand new table ready to greet....The one server in the section was telling the bus boy that she was going home after the table next to us left, didn't even think to say "Hi, were super busy but i'll make sure someone comes over to you ASAP"....we had zero interaction from a server for over 20 minutes. Tables who had food were trying to wave down servers and were being ignored around us. So we left without ever being greeted or asked for a drink order or anything. We went to The Hooley Pub and Grille and told them how horrible our experience was and they made up for this place COMPLETELY...
