The room Chocolate Factory, was relatively cool and it fit the theme. But that's where the positives end.
The room was pretty beaten up, the room had clearly seen better days. This however was not the most disappointing part of this experience.
The set up of the location was pretty bizarre to me, instead of having the rooms completely walled off, they simply had walls that were 10 feet tall and left open room from the wall to the ceiling. This allowed sound to carry from all of the rooms, which detracted from the experience. Everytime we heard a ding, we thought we were getting a clue, but 8 out of 10 times, it was for another room.
The staff was comprised of 3 younger women who clearly were not passionate about their jobs. We were led to our room and told the video would run and then our time would begin. We waited in the room for the video to start for over 10 minutes. They had forgotten about us. I had to leave the room and hunt down one of the employees and interrupt her helping a new group to get our room actually started. She apologized but she seemed so busy that I knew from that point on we were in trouble when it came to getting hints.
When asking for clues from a game master(escape room employee) usually they would know what we've tried and give us a clue that pertained to what we specifically we having trouble with, but here, they clearly weren't paying attention. It took them roughly 6 minutes to give us a clue that actually pertained to where we were in the puzzle. After that we mainly had smooth sailing, up until each point when we decided we needed a clue, where we would stand there indicating we needed a clue for upwards of 5 minutes.
After our 60 minutes were up the girl only would tell us that we made it really far, but she refused to tell us what we had left. Traditionally, if you don't escape the room they'll run through what you missed and had left to do. But she said she couldn't tell us anything. Which was really strange and off-putting.
The fact that we paid nearly $30 each for this experience and received terrible customer service from the employees is very frustrating. The place was either under staffed or the employees it had were sub-par, either way, this was $30 wasted. I understand the room being a bit run down, but the low quality of the employees was...
Read moreWe did "asylum". The room was cool, but there were a lot of issues. One of the hints was in the wrong order which was incredibly confusing and wasted a ton of time and also our hint, which is irritating when your only allowed 3 hints without a penalty. We had to waste another hint because we were doing the right thing but it wasn't working because we didn't want to push to hard and break anything, but then wasted a hint for her just to say "push harder". We believe they manually opened one of the doors because we were doing the right thing, but the scanner wasn't working. We ended up losing, but wanted to at least see what we missed, but the game master claimed there was a team right after us so she couldn't show us the last room when we were almost done and due to things not working we didn't even get additional time which they claimed in the tutorial video that they would if things didn't work, which you can't do if you schedule rooms without any flexibility. Absolutely disheartening and I don't recommend.
Edited Response: how can we have the wrong code when the levers were correct and wasted a hint for her to tell us to push them harder when we were told not to force anything!!!! Secondly the door didn't open with the hand and finger print we did it MULTIPLE times and then all of a sudden it opened even though it said "access denied" also how did you have enough time to check when she didn't have enough time to type in one 4 letter code to get the last door open which we already had everything for that one code. You are NOT going to lie and gaslight me. I tried being respectful but the comment was absolutely incorrect and not possible.
Edited again clearly your not understanding please give us a call so I can dumb it down for you and actually...
Read moreMy family and I have been to this place before, and almost everytime it was great. But we went last night and have been greeted by a staff member that was from the North Olmsted location. We arrived 15 minutes early, but she greeted us and said that we were fashionably late. We explained to her that the room was for 8:30pm, and not for 8pm. She denied it and still believed she was right. She also said this room was the easiest room, so I had high hopes of escaping with only three people. So we started and the game ran smoothly until we got stuck. We had only gotten stuck because the game master wasn't watching us, and when we asked for a clue, it took her five minutes to respond, and the clue was only up there for a minute on the screen. Not enough time to remember what it said. Each clue she gave us was a puzzle that we already solved, even though she said if we did it correctly then it would have opened or revealed the next puzzle, but we had already been to the next step. To even ask for a clue I had to speak loud enough for her to hear me next door because she wasn't paying attention to the monitor, and we could hear her talking on the phone. Each clue she gave was something we already solved, and we ran out of clues because she wasn't paying attention to us, and we had gotten stuck on the last puzzle. I'm very disappointed with this experience and the staff especially with the lady who was working who didn't seem to want us there (9/27/17). We had the same game master from North Olmsted, and it had resulted in the same experience we had at North Olmsted. I had thought nothing about it when she...
