It would be a lie to say that this store is awful, as anyone who has walked inside this location would know I was being deceitful. It is pleasantly organized, and displays are eye catching. They have just about everything a crafty person's heart could desire. I truly love this store.
The negative:
I absolutely despise the fact that coupons and "advertised sales" are not deducted automatically at the register. You have to keep your fingers crossed that the cashier can remember all of the items from the sale ads-which hasn't happened yet. Otherwise, you will have to keep watching every item they scan to see if the item on their screen came up at the sale price (this is quite annoying). Don't get me wrong, the cashiers are usually great and super friendly until you need to figure out the sales part.
Yesterday, for example, specific cake items were on sale for 50% off, and I decided to splurge, because to be honest...why not at half off, right? While the cashier scanned the items, absolutely nothing appeared to have changed in price and she didn't use her whimsical magic on the keys...I became worried. I hesitantly told her some items were on sale...I really hate to be that customer, but I stocked up because of the sale. She seemed annoyed and said no, there were no sales going on and no coupons. I whipped out my phone and had to go to the retail website to show her the items were indeed, displayed cheaper than on her register. She pulled out her sales ad and confirmed the items were on sale. I left irritated to say the least. Why is a store like this still inputting items like we are at a gas station? So my message to others making purchases, especially buying more because of "sales", you really need to pay attention and cross reference that they are applying the discounts. If the cashier does not apply it, you will pay the full price of the item.
This to be honest has deterred me from coming here often like I used to. I don't like the lack of trust I have that they will honor the sales that they post in the aisles. Selection is great, but it's less stressful for me to shop at Joanne's or Michael's- at least I won't have to feel guilty for interrogating the cashiers on...
Read moreI’ve always loved Hobby Lobby because they have a ton of stuff for a range of different hobbies. I’m into Gundams, figurines, and model kits and they have all three of those things. When I went today I did see they had a Master Grade RX-78-2 but it’s at the tip top of the shelf. You can’t reach it without getting a store associate to climb up there for you. Don’t know why they want to make a big ticket item that’ll pay the store well be literally impossible to reach. Antisocial people like me don’t want to bother others to access a product, so in my opinion people would feel discouraged from moving up a model kit grade. Their Gundam prices are actually really good compared to getting kits online and they have a good selection. Don’t expect to get super rare kits though. Oh and don’t buy their cheapo knockoff store brand of tools for model building. I got a cutting mat and it smells like death, and the pair of side cutters I got one time are creaky and chunky, the blade can’t even cut through slightly harder plastic despite its massive blades. One complaint I have is that nothing has a real barcode on it due to Hobby Lobby’s product system. The cashier will punch in the number code on the product into the computer and that tends to take a while if you have a lot of items or especially if they can’t find the product. Don’t know why they have that system to be honest but whatever. This system will test your patience and even as a person who is rather patient, my capacity to wait wears thin most of the time I’m in this store because they’ll only have 2 cashiers going. Unemployment and all…but seriously. I still like Hobby Lobby though despite all this and all my complaints seem more like...
Read moreI love many things about Hobby lobby, but I’ll tell you one thing I don’t which is why I’m now giving them three stars hoping this makes a little change … at this particular hobby lobby that I’m reviewing they want to charge you $.10 for a bag to put your beads in and the way the employees ask even annoys me because when you’ve got a big pile of beads of course you need a bag :-) what bothers me is their bags have their big hobby lobby branding all over them and I just don’t think I should give them $.10 to carry a bag around with their big logo on it if it was a plain little plastic or paper bag, I would’ve gladly given them a dollar I’m just not here to advertise for big companies in any way shape or form I think that’s their job :-) in general I love hobby lobby and their sales on beadsbut this one thing which I’ve only seen in some of their stores needs to stop and normally I even bring my own bags. I just forgot that day carried the beads out to my car...
