I just want to first off say I love Target, I've have always loved your selection and customer service until now. This morning at 8:00 am I went to the Target located at 155 Pocono Commons,Stroudsburg,PA, 18360 to do some shopping and to redeem a free coupon I had for a product that was only available at your store in my area. My coupon wasn't working even though it was a valid coupon sent to me from the manufacturing company itself. The attendant self checkout was rude and no help at all and told me that "if I wanted to I could go to customer service but I doubt it will do anything".... So I went to customer service and the customer service attendant was so nice to the lady in front of me who was a Caucasian women and I thought that at least the this target employee would give me a better customer service experience then what I just had... So when it was time for her to help me she was worse than the previous employee. She was very dismissive and told me that if I scan the coupon and it doesn't go through there is nothing I could do for you. The coupon had the same problem had at the self checkout which was ok I understand that there is only so much they could do. But, what I do not understand is the unprofessional-ism and racial profiling... Both the employees were quick to help the white customers with whatever they needed and treated them as more than. But, as soon as I walk in they don't say anything to me ignore me and are very hesitant to help me and make me wait the longest time to get any help. The lady at the self checkout was looking at the coupon like it was automatically invalid and looked at it like she was checking a counterfeit bill and didn't try to seek help or approval from someone higher up and neither did the employee at customer service. The lady at customer service didn't have a care in the world how long it took to help the white customer in front of me and she went above and beyond for her. Me, she spent less than a minute helping me before she told me a second time there was nothing she could do for me that I had to figure it out. She didn't even explain the coupon policy to me or anything or ask for a manager when it was clearly a problem that she should of taken to a manager to see if thee was anything else she could or could have not done. This really makes me upset because Target was the last place in my mind where I thought I would be racially profiled and disrespected and treated differently because I am a minority. I have never had an experience like this at Target because the numerous times I have went before I have always had the best customer service, it is just very disappointing and heartbreaking that I got treated like this compared to the amazing treatment that the other Caucasian customers got.... UPDATE: I called Target and all they wanted to do was have the matter swept under the rug and send me a 10 dollar gift card can you believe that a 10 dollar gift card for racism.... WHICH I HAVEN'T...
Read moreLet me premise this...I am handicapped and can only walk maybe 50 feet before I will topple over. The last few times I have been to the store in Stroudsburg Pa, the electric carts are not charged to where they can be used, and when they are, they are often difficult to get moving. Bad linkage in the steering columns seems to impede the electric signal from the control box to the drive motor, requiring that you turn the steering handle back and forth to find some connection. The safety switch located inside the driver's seat often stick and require the driver to stand up and sit down hard to get it to activate. While this may not seem like such a big deal, to those with good limbs and feet, to us somewhat invalided customers. it can be difficult. Between not being charged and ready to use, the balky steering linkage (some are very loose and so hard to steer accurately) as well as the loose electrical connections in the steering column, plus the aforementioned seat switch issues, a 30 minute trip to Target can take an hour and a half. Waiting either to have a usable cart returned, or an avail;able cart to be charged to the point it will not leave you stranded at the far end of the store, consumes more time than the actual shopping often times.. To their credit Target management replaced their 5 decrepit electric carts with three new ones. Until yesterday there was always one available when I arrived and of course being virtually new they all performed as advertised. When I got to the store at 4:57 pm there were no carts....I stood there leaning on the wall and my cane until my legs began to collapse (have multiple herniated discs in my back, serious neuropathy in both legs and feet, recovering still from a recently broken hip, so standing was no longer an option...the nearest chair was at least 40 feet away so I staggered over to it and flopped down. waited until 6:!5, but no carts had showed up yet...waited for over an hour and twenty minutes then left the store making no purchases. Albeit this is the only time I have had to wait, but I went there anticipating no waiting problem because the parking lot was more than half empty. Although I was assured by the cart attendant that the carts were "on the floor" with people just "dawdling", I half suspect that the staff were using the carts for their own purposes. I have never had to wait an hour and twenty minutes (and who knows how much longer if I had stayed). I am seriously considering other stores now if this is going to happen.
Same thing happened today three days later..waited 1.5 hours..no electric carts available. I have been made a fool of by Target long enough. I guess the $10,000/ year I spend their is meaningless. My rating of this store just dropped to a single star only because some floor employees were polite enough to apologize for their management's inconsideration. So long Target..no more of my...
Read moreLast week I decided to take a visit to the Target Stroudsburg store to purchase a couple of holiday items for Christmas. I also had a return I was looking to do and so before I headed into the store, I made my way over to the customer service desk. Two weeks beforehand I had decided to purchase an inflatable mattress but because my cousin's flight was canceled they were unable to stay at my house so the mattress went unused. Upon reaching the front of the line, I was helped by the sweetest young girl who told me she was unsure whether or not she could return the item so she radioed the manager currently in the building. She called for a woman named Leslie and I could hear her audibly sigh over the radio. She rudely addressed the employee standing in front of me and dismissively replied that she would be on her way in a moment. AFTER 20 minutes she finally arrived at the guest service counter and proceeded to provide possibly the worst employee encounter at a Target I have ever had. She not only seemed completely clueless about Target's return policy regarding mattresses but also gave off the impression that there were thousands of other things she would rather be doing. Luckily I had read the return policy on the website before going to return the item and had to inform her that the item was eligible for return as stated on Target's own website. She genuinely didn't believe me and insisted that I was the one who was wrong, despite me showing her what it said on the website. I usually would never make this assumption, but I think it is fair to say that she (a Caucasian woman) was racially profiling me (a Hispanic man). I felt unwanted in the store and after finally convincing her that my return was eligible, I no longer wanted to proceed with my holiday shopping. I'm going to be contacting corporate about the incident but just wanted to warn other potential...
