dd's DISCOUNTS — Local services in Suitland

I love shopping at dd's and I spend lots of money when I come to shop here because I love the deals. When you come into the store, you are always greeted. My last shopping experience yesterday was upsetting. I had purchased items earlier that day and came back to purchase a few more. The store was near closing. There was 2 customers in line infront of me. One went to the return line. The other was being helped by the store manager who I was told after asking named Jennifer. After Jennifer was finished with the customer in front of me, she steps away. I asked if I should step forward to be helped. She replied no the other teller will take you and closed down her register. The other teller was busy with his return customer before Jennifer had taken her next customer and still working with the same customer after Jennifer customer left. I look at my phone and see that it was 9:52pm and I had already been waiting in line and was the only one standing there. I could not understand why she could not help me as I was the only customer standing and waiting. I see her just moving around doing things near the register. I had only a few items in hand. Finally the other teller takes me it was now 10:03pm. As I am being helped by him and he finishes. I look and see that there were 3 other customers in lines and Jennifer opens back up her register to take other customers. I feel like she was rude for first closing her register near closing and leaving me to stand in line. She did not say anything about closing her register until I started to step forward and ask her if she was ready for me to step forward. The reply I received was a no with a pause and told he will take you next. After she can clearly see that his customer was taking longer then usual and the store was now closed as I was standing and waiting to be helped. She did not offer to open back up her register to ring up my items, but does so when other customers form a line. This is bad customer...

THE SECURITY GUARDS ARE MUCH MORE FRIENDLIER AND ABLE TO ASSIST BETTER THAN THE ACTUAL EMPLOYEES HERE. Visited this store today (Memorial Day) and as soon as I step half a foot into the store, the security guard (male) stated "Welcome to DD's ladies". I was impressed. This actually made me feel welcomed to shop at this Establishment. While walking thru the store, I noticed the prices were unbelievably inexpensive. I made certain that I purchased everything that I needed and even things that I didn't need all because that comment made me feel as though this Establishment supports my business. As I was walking throughout the store, another security guard asked me if I needed any assistance. I replied NO thankyou. As I walked closer to the register the young lady who worked in the store appeared as though she had a long day and did not look customer friendly. As I was in the line checking out, the guy cashier did not greet me nor did he make any eye contact. Once I finished my transaction the said"You two ladies enjoy your day". We replied thank you and I heard him mumble " It's almost time to get outta here". This comment ruined my shopping experience. I suppose they had a long day, but so did I. I like the fact that dd's is trying to bring back "customer service", as soon as you walk through the door they stop whatever they are doing and greet you with "welcome to dd's" and a genuine smile, including the security guards.

They give back to the community by holding special drawings, back to school events for kids, charity collection events etc. Every year I participate in the donation event that they have for filling and distributing back packs for kids going back to school. Each person that contributes/donates is provided the opportunity to put their name or a loved one's name on a decorative card that is displayed at the front of the store.

The staff is friendly and helpful and I always feel like a family member when I walk through the door. When you check out, the security staff or a store staffer will take and put your basket away for you. They're all just so sweet and genuine.

The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is because the women's clothing could be better.
