Review for SOUL – WOK (District Heights) SOUL – WOK is truly a gem in District Heights! From the moment I walked in, I could feel the vibe of the place it was warm, inviting, and full of love. The staff greeted everyone who came through the door, and since I was seated near the entrance, I got to witness all the little moments: the smiles, the short conversations, the genuine attention and care shown to each customer. That alone set the tone for a beautiful experience. The menu? Let me tell you, I went through it at least 50 times because everything sounded amazing. But nothing could have prepared me for when my food actually came out it was even better than I imagined! My entrées arrived hot and fresh, my fried food was perfectly crispy, and every bite was seasoned with flavor. The wings? A solid 10/10. The spring rolls? Another 10/10. I also had the orange chicken and dragon chicken with shrimp and broccoli, and what stole my heart was the fresh orange slices garnishing the plate they weren’t just for looks, they tasted incredible. And that sauce… I don’t know what magic they put into it, but it was perfection. But what really touched me most came at the very end. When I was checking out, my server handed me something (I won’t spoil the surprise for new guests), and it moved me so deeply that I actually broke down in tears. It was exactly what I needed, at the exact moment I needed it, and I cannot express how much that small but powerful gesture meant to me. Another thing that stood out was how every single staff member acknowledged me in some way. Whether I was sitting or standing, each person spoke to me, which made me feel not just like a customer, but like family. I even met the owners that day, which is rare and it showed me that they are genuinely invested in their vision, their guests, and their community. You can see and feel the love they pour into every detail of the dining experience. Between the food, the service, and the atmosphere, SOUL – WOK delivers 1000% comfort and care. They filled my stomach, warmed my heart, and gave me a memory I’ll never forget. I’m already planning to go back tomorrow because there are two more dishes I regret not ordering the first time! If you haven’t been yet go. Love on them, because they will absolutely love on you. District Heights needed a place like this, and I am so thankful they’ve brought their kindness, their food, and their heart to the community. 💛 Thank you SOUL – WOK for such a beautiful, soul-filling experience and See you tomorrow!

I ordered ahead of time and ordered the monster shrimp egg roll (which on their menu says specialty sauce). I picked up my food checked and there was no specialty sauce. I said it to one woman and she said it's in there. I looked I saw nothing but the standard packets that come with Chinese food, soy sauce and duck sauce but no specialty sauce. I asked again the same response, as was told "it's in there". Now I wear glasses but I'm not blind by no means so l said, "No there's no specialty sauce." At which point another man (which I assume was a manager) said the duck sauce is the specialty sauce. He said the yum yum sauce is just for the monster steak and cheese egg roll. The shrimp monster gets duck sauce packets. I said no, "It says signature sauce on the menu". He proceeded to go back and forth that the signature sauce is only for the steak and cheese and that I was confused, which only exacerbated the situation. I then took the menu and pointed out where it stated clearly "served with our signature sauce" and he continued justifying the packets as the signature sauce. Now I'm dumbfounded, flummoxed and down right pissed. This dude must think that I'm stupid if he thinks he can pee on my leg and tell me it's raining. I digress...but when has duck sauce packets ever been referred to as a "specialty sauce?" He then had the audacity to say, But if you would like yum yum sauce that will be an additional $.50 cents. At this point I'm done. Are you serious right now? When has duck sauce packets ever been defined as such? We went back and forth for a while and he finally acquiested and gave me yum yum sauce for my monster shrimp egg roll, which had a whole load of cabbage and 4 mini shrimps (Yes, I counted!). And on top of all of that they omitted my half and half from the order but I asked for it again before I left. The only positive thing was their Mongolian beef which was good and plentiful but I didn't like the bait and switch in and effort to get an additional $.50 cents. My solution, do one or the other modify the description and omit specialty sauce, because there is nothing special about a duck sauce packet unless Soul Wok has a patent for the standard duck sauce packets in the country, or give that monster cabbage roll some yum yum sauce like the monster steak and cheese egg roll. Yes, I purposely omitted the word shrimp intentionally since it appeared to have been omitted from that lame shrimp egg roll. Soul Wok you should be ashamed of yourself (way to leave a first...
