I was so shocked and extremely disappointed when I visited the Silver Hill Road Shoppers. The customers of this neighborhood are being grossly taken advantage of. I felt so saddened as I left this store in disgust. I could not get out of this store fast enough. Shoppers' authorities and managers should be ashamed of yourselves. You are relying on the likely disadvantage that the customers in this neighborhood do not have their own transportation and therefore are unable to get to another store and you are also using the Pandemic to your advantage. Shoppers' customers in this area, please compare prices to Walmart anddd Safeway. You are being taken again of. It is obvious that Shoppers has absolutely no regard whatsoever for the customers in this community. Shoppers, you must keep in mind that your store would undoubtedly eventually close for lack of business (especially during this time) if not for your customers. You are treating them with such disregard , instead of displaying appreciation for their business that ultimately keeps you in business. Customers compare Shoppers prices to Walmart and Safeway. Shoppers' prices should not be higher than Safeway prices! Your snacks are even higher! In addition, the neighborhood is majority African American and Latina but your cosmetic department does not reflect this at all, not even close. Stop the price gouging and put the products in your store for the customers who keep your store in business.
Update: In discussing (with my co-worker, who is in total agreement with me) the outrageous prices of this store that I could once count on for lower and much affordable prices for everyone - she pointed out that Shoppers has now been taken over my other stores, which is why their prices are as they are now. I totally forgot that our beloved REAL "Shoppers" are all gone. đâšď¸đ. Now it all makes sense. It was a shock to my system. I truly thought that Shoppers had begun some corrupt price gouging. This is not the Original though, this is the doing of Take Over stores. đ. Will not shop at Shoppers again. Harris Teeter has a variety of quality products and I consider them to be a bit overpriced but reasonably, I now don't mind paying bc they have items that you can't find at all grocery stores. Shoppers is now higher than Harris Teeter, Safeway, Walmart and Giant. I felt like I was being totally ripped off as I continued to see the mark ups in Shoppers - I felt even worse for the community. They have the fresh lemon cake that I love and I can't find it anywhere else. I will STOP BY Shoppers to purchase this cake exclusively. I will not Shop here...
Read moreRecently, I went here on an Instacart assignment, which I often do. Unfortunately, this time I had the worst experience.
The customer I was shopping for wanted hot crab legs so I proceeded to the seafood department. As I approached the counter a female employee who was behind the counter walked to the back. Then Mike, a male employee walked behind the counter and went straight to the back without acknowledgement. Since, I am given a certain time to fulfill the order while at the store. I said, âIs anyone going to assist meâ. This is when both employees walked towards the counter uttering profanity because I asked for assistance.
The female said softly, âDamn, I didnât see youâ. While Mike said the same and more but more aggressively, which I was baffled. I expressed to him the lack of professionalism and he became argumentative and confrontational. It only ended because I eventually ignored him to proceed with my order of crab legs.
It is always frustrating to me when youâre in an establishment that is based on customer service. Yet, the employees lack customer service skills. They become upset with the customer if youâre forced to ask for assistance. Mike hostile mentality was very concerning. He appears mentally unstable. If I had matched his energy, things couldâve went totally different. He is a poor representative of Shoppers. Such behavior shouldnât be allowed or tolerated.
Before leaving the store, I spoke with one of the managers on duty. He spoke with the female who was working in seafood and witnessed Mikeâs poor behavior. Yet, lied and said she didnât know what happened. Why she said that when she was right there and responded disrespectfully as well, Iâll never know. These employees have to do better or get a job that doesnât require interacting with customers.
Later, I went to Shoppers located at 10501 Martin Luther King, Jr Highway, Bowie, Md. on an Instacart assignment and it was a much better experience. Joe in produce and the other employees assisted me without hesitation. A female employee went and found an item I was looking for, without asking. If I had the option to chose the Shoppers I prefer to shop at, it will definitely be this location. Unfortunately, I live directly behind the Shoppers I had the less than positive experience at, which is why Iâm there often on Instacart...
Read moreI came in yesterday on 4/8/24 around 11 a.m. I wanted to put a order in for a cake for my son's birthday. I was sent to this location by the Forestville Shoppers because apparently their cake decorator had quit. I greeted the brown skinned older lady with the very short hair, she stated she was the head of the bakery. She had a VERY BAD attitude from jump. She asked me what I needed the cake for, and I had misheard her, so she got really sarcastic and said that's not what I asked u. I apologized for misunderstanding her and she still was very rude. She proceeded to shake her head and state that she hates when other locations recommend the one she is working at, and she won't even be in the day I need it so nope (in her words). I don't usually leave reviews often but all I was trying to do was order a cake for my son's birthday and had gone to a couple stores prior. She is literally baking cakes for a living I don't understand how you can hate your job so much. She should probably find a job that makes her happy instead of taking her frustrations out on people trying to spend their hard-earned money in her...
