Carolyn, the owner is very friendly. I love the new store, it is directly next door to the west of their previous location. I can see that she owns both locations as the name is still up on the old store.
There is disabled parking and a ramp that is wheelchair friendly. The store is very spacious so it would be very friendly for handicapped people who have mobility issues. The aisles are wide enough to comfortably fit 2 wheel chairs side by side. I did not ask about the bathrooms, perhaps Carolyn can add that. :)
The staff was all friendly and helped me find what I needed immediately. I worked in this industry for over 15 years, 1979 forward. I was in a bad car accident in Corpus Christi, TX where I worked for A & D Office Supply which was located on SPID South Padre Island Drive. I was injured badly and had to stop working.
At the store: I asked certain questions and they were all helpful. They have free delivery. I must stress the importance of the following:
This is considered a Mom & Pop type of operation. That means that the company is owned and operated by local people or person rather than a major corporation. We need to be certain to support our local communities and the stores owned by locals in order to keep that sector alive. If we all buy x from the large chains, then the smaller businesses lose the sale(s) and with no income, they will be out of business. Then what are our choices? A monopoly of large chain stores, NO Thank you!
I noticed many people coming and going during my stroll around their store. I am pretty certain that should you wish to buy something and they do not have it in stock, it can be ordered, most likely arrive the following morning and most likely be delivered to you that following day. That use to be the industry standard. I did purchasing at many Office Supply Companies in my past.
Most office supply companies do not charge a fee, unless it is a very small purchase. I don't know what their policy is on that. I remember when I was buying a lot from them in 2010, setting up my home office, they would deliver items to me at no charge. What a nice service that so many do not offer any longer.
In the past, I ordered a lot of fountain pen, writing supplies from them. I broke my right wrist in 2 places, surgeries, therapy, etc. Now it is a bit difficult to write, but I need to start practicing again. If this has happened to you, then you know that your signature changes greatly and when arthritis sets in, it is more difficult to write. My right hand suffers from fatigue very quickly and my handwriting is horrible now. I use to practice because I am on the computer most of the time now. lol We get lazy and our handwriting will suffer.
I need to look at their website for writing instruments which are friendlier for people with arthritis. There are products made as such, fyi.
I encourage you to buy local and support our people and our communities. And as you walk in their door, be prepared to be Greeted! Thank you for...
Read moreUnited Office Supply is my favorite place to get office supplies. The company is local, prices are great, & I always find a new product to try! The owner & staff are amazing & so sweet. They always remember me everything I go in. They are all so knowledgeable of the products. If I want something specific but cannot find it, they always recommend another product that is similar or see if they are able to carry that product in the store.
I highly recommend going there! I, also, recommend taking the time to just talk with the owner & staff. They really are the sweetest &...
Read moreThat are pretty quick here. I come from a town where you might as well plan 30 minutes out of your day if you had to go into the post office. That could mean only 2 people in front of you, didn't matter. This place clears people out pretty fast and both times I've been in there they were fairly friendly. They need to communicate better about which line we need to be in if we are just picking up. I didn't take any stars off because even so, I was still out of there way faster than I would have been in...
