As a Chinese, I’ve always loved cooking, especially learning from my mom, who passed down many traditional cooking skills to me. However, I wanted to take my skills to the next level by learning more precise measurements and discovering new ways to prepare dishes. This cooking class was a perfect opportunity. Through the class, I gained valuable insights and learned different techniques that I could incorporate into my own cooking. The instructor provided a fresh perspective on traditional Chinese dishes, offering detailed recipes and tips I hadn’t learned from my mom. I was also excited to expand my repertoire by learning how to prepare other Asian dishes - it was a bonus. One of the highlights of the clsss was the focus on using fresh, organic ingredients. The quality of the ingredients really made a difference- more flavorful and most important, healthier. The class itself was also a wonderful experience. Not only did we learn cooking skills together, but we also had the chance to sit down and enjoy the delicious dishes we made as a group. The table setup was Beautiful, making sweet memories with fellow good enthusiasts. Highly recommend this class to improve their cooking and have fun in the process.

Lovely experience here with the Passion for Spices team. May, Chef Thomas, and Christina were wonderful and very welcoming. The location was part of the church and had great parking to the side. Large kitchen space and nice seating to enjoy the food we cooked. A few things to note when signing up for these cooking classes are that they are decently sized. Not too overwhelming and pretty interactive. I was not aware it was a couples cooking class so it was a little unexpected but it was fine! We got to work with our hands and assist with cooking. It was very guided and Chef Thomas did a good amount of the work while we did prep work and assembly. Nice experience and would like to see what other themed nights they do. Hopefully ones that are not dedicated to couples though for personal preference. Now for my standard COVID comments as of February 2023. No one is wearing masks. It’s a decently sized location but if you are not comfortable with being indoors and cooking food with folks without masks, would not recommend. I felt fine and enjoyed myself but also would not say no to having folks in the kitchen wear masks.

I bought this for me and my boyfriend for Christmas and we had a great time! The chefs were great and gave us some helpful tips that we’ll definitely use. I’m only giving 4 stars because our menu said we were going to make ricotta and a charcuterie board, but we didn’t do those things. We also didn’t eat until 8:00 and had been there since 5. A charcuterie board definitely would have been great to hold us over until the meal, and for the $300 I paid for the class, I would have liked a “heads up” that the plan changed. The lessons are held in a church and the heat wasn’t working properly, but I appreciated that the class wasn’t cancelled. Again, an email to let us know ahead of time would have been nice. Overall, we had a great experience and definitely learned some useful tips.

May and her staff are phenomenally talented, kind and welcoming. We hosted a large corporate event (with 50 people) and the event went smoothly with everyone being engaged at each station learning about proper cutting techniques, use of spices (new and commonly used), information about the local farms they work with and much more!

The way the class and stations were set up allowed for easy networking among the guests and fun conversations with the chefs. Food was amazing and all our attendees enjoyed the charcuterie table they had set up while socializing beforehand and during the cooking class.

I am also very grateful about the venue being extremely flexible with scheduling and allowing access to the building as we had a lot of deliveries & pre-event set ups that needed to be brought in for our event. Guests were thrilled to receive the recipes for all the menu items we made after the event as well. The only challenge we had was the limited parking available, but luckily there is a free municipal parking lot right across the street so it all worked out.

Would highly recommend hosting a private event or attending one of their regular cooking classes. May and her team are very professional and passionate about what they do,...

Sixteen high school students participated in an immersive culinary field trip at Passion for Spices, where they engaged in professional cooking instruction under expert guidance. Within the first session, students demonstrated remarkable progress in mastering fundamental cutting techniques.

The program featured four comprehensive courses, through which students explored the cultural significance of each dish, analyzed the nutritional value of ingredients, and learned how proper technique enhances flavor profiles. A particularly rewarding moment occurred when students sampled their own culinary creations, with one enthusiastically noting, 'This is truly delicious!'—a sentiment echoed by even the most selective participants.

By the conclusion of the plating exercise, the transformation was evident: students displayed newfound confidence in knife skills and thoughtful consideration of spice combinations. This hands-on experience effectively bridged theoretical knowledge with practical application, resulting in both skill development and deepened appreciation for culinary arts.

We will definitely bring students here in the future. Personally, I even consider sending my own kid to enroll the course before she starts her...
