I came here several years ago with a friend and loved the store. The check out person was a bit gruff, but it was fine otherwise, and I found some fun stuff. Decided to come back and bring a friend since we were in the area. I've had two children since then, so had my 2 year old at my side and my 3 month old on my front pack. My 2 year old moves fast and loves trying to touch everything, so I'd done my best to keep her close to me through the two previous stores and explain that she wasn't to touch things only look. A work in progress for sure, and one the other two shopkeepers were so lovely about, smiling as I corrected her and directing us to child-friendly products. In this shop, however, we hadn't even made it past the register when I stopped to look at something. A few seconds later someone snapped "Hey, look at her!" Heart sinking, I looked down at my toddler as the same voice behind me loudlyaddressed my toddler: "You can't touch that!" My toddler was below my front pack and just out of my sight, and had picked up a glass cup on the bottom shelf. I gently took it from her, quietly told her "Come on honey, let's go," and we all left after less than two minutes in the place. I looked over as I was putting the cup back and saw a very upset looking gentleman ringing up a line of customers, all of whom had awkwardly witnesses the outburst. I realize kids are stressful and frustrating. I'd been up since 1 a.m. because of the baby, and this was my first time shopping with both of them. I would have paid for anything had she broken it, and was doing my very best to keep her close and the merchandise safe. Unfortunately this place seems to have no patience for kids, or for the adults trying their best to manage them. I wasn't going to post this review, as anyone can have a bad/stressful day, but after reading several other reviews on here I see that this attitude seems to be a habit, rather than an incident, with those who run this establishment. It's a shame. I like to try to shop small businesses, but this is one I likely won't be...
Read moreWhile my son and I were shopping. The owner or manager and another woman and two men were speaking very badly of someone and we're so busy bashing the person, I couldn't even ask a question. It was uncomfortable and bad business practice. If you want to trash on a employee or someone like that make sure you don't have customers and don't do it so loudly like where your not trying at all to hide it. The sad thing is there were several things we liked and we're going to put purchase but they were all up at the counter where you pay. And my 14 year old said he didn't want to buy things from people like that and was sad because he had found a perfect gift for his sister but told me he didn't want to give his money to people that didn't acknowledge we were in the store or evem say hi. We were right by them looking at a metal crown. And I wanted it especially because I buy things like that because of my last name. And he told me to put it down and just find one somewhere else that he was uncomfortable. So they lost a sale of over ten items because they decided to do that and not try at all to do it quietly. Even if they needed to because it sounded like who they were talking about wasn't a good person they were saying she couldn't be trusted and other things just do it somewhere else if you want your customers to be happy. We used to shop there alot when we left my son said he never wanted to go back that it made him so uncomfortable. So they have great stuff if you can handle the atmosphere. In our case we...
Read moreGreat vendors and fantastic selection. I found quite a few nice items.
Post my purchase I was informed they charge an additional 3.5% fee for using a card - debit or credit - that they didn't disclose. I was with a friend and she wasn't informed either.
The only reason I noticed was because I was over charged for my purchases and had to go back to get it resolved. To note there is ample ability to have a sign disclosing this up at the register or at the least tell people when they are being rung up.
The gentleman running the register literally said "your receipt won't match what you paid" when I want back to dispute my bill.
He was resistant to acknowledge that he made an error and was very quick to assume that I couldn't add correctly. He ended up providing me with a credit.
In addition to that the gentleman made homophobic remarks about being at a Madonna concert and having to see gays on screen kissing.
I love supporting local businesses and vintage vendors but this visit...
