IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ The Zipline is a really neat and fun feature at Loyalty Park and one of the amenities my son has enjoyed since he was just a toddler. Last Summer just before he turned five, I had helped him get situated on the seat and gave him a little push. Being that he was already an esteemed veteran on the Zipline at this point he wanted me to push him a little harder than the first time the second time around. I am one of those paranoid moms who is constantly over analyzing our surroundings in fear of accidents happening and by default was born wired as a person who believes it's the universe s sole mission to ensure my child will be the one to stumble upon any available accident within a ten block radius (a bit conceited of me I know) just to give you an accurate idea of how cautious I can be even if it's just a nice day we are enjoying at the park. So after my son talked to me into pushing him a few little harder I hesitated but after making sure he was firmly planted on the seat with his legs crossed and locked at the ankles and his arms wrapped and crossed together firmly on the rope, gave him a harder push, watching as my heart raced and I can remember thinking to myself "please don't let go, please don't let go" and hoping he didn't loosen his grip enough to fall off from the force when the thing reached the end and did its hard jerk before swinging back towards us. Well he didn't loosen his grip, and he didn't fall off either however when it reached the end and swung back towards us, it swung directly into one of the big yellow poles that are on each side at the end that hold the Zipline up. He hit VERY HARD as it was directly as it was swinging back towards our direction so hard infact the entire crowd at the park went silent and all that could be heard at that point was the blood-curdling scream coming from my four year old. My son sustained a small bump but luckily nothing more serious such as a fractured skull or a concussion. I received a lot of dirty looks from some of the other parents who understandably assumed I had pushed my child to hard. I can assure I did not and that this still happened. So the Zipline can swing your child directly into one of the foundation poles that are on each side at the end of the Zipline and when it jerks and swings back your child can easily slam right into one of them so be cautious and be aware. Thank you. Located just down the street from home, this is a cozy little park tucked away from the hassle of the traffic right 8n the middle of Sumner. The park is full of trees which offer plenty of shade and the park is always full of local children from the neighborhood playing on weekends. There is a strong sense of community here which I like and enjoy the sense of security and being safe due to everyone always keeping an eye...
Read moreWhen I first arrived, I would've gave this park 5 stars. However, it did not take long before it was clear that the only 'pro' without a 'con' is that the old-growth trees provide shade & improve air quality. Otherwise, every 'PRO' has a 'CON' for example:
Oh, and there's no trash cans nor dog poop...
Read moreThis park is an absolute gem in the middle of downtown Sumner housing area. This park is so beautiful with its huge gorgeous old growth trees, large grassy fields where the grass is always green and an abundant area for children to play. I also like the fact that it has picnic table spots with an area that you can BBQ at and it has enough of them to where multiple families can come and enjoy the park at the same time. There's also plenty of parking around the park not to mention an actual dedicated parking area tucked away in the back corner of the park doesn't take away from the parks beauty. This park always seems to be clean and very well maintained and I'm happy to count myself among the many families that get to enjoy this park in my...
