Sunriver Village is truly one of those places that just makes you happy to be there. From the moment you arrive, you’re surrounded by a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a charming mix of shops and experiences.
The grocery store in the village had absolutely everything we needed and more. It’s so convenient to have a spot where you can grab anything from essentials to fun little extras, all without having to leave the village. Everyone we met was incredibly friendly and helpful, which just adds to the charm of this place.
Walking through the village, there’s something for everyone. We stopped by the ice cream shop, which was perfect for a sunny day, and wandered into the art gallery showcasing talented local artists. There are great little boutiques throughout the village with unique finds you won’t see anywhere else. The shop owners are so kind and welcoming, making it a joy to browse and explore.
The whole environment is beautiful and dog friendly, which makes it even more inviting. There’s something about the sunshine, the open paths, and the friendly energy that just makes you want to slow down, walk around, and soak it all in.
I honestly can’t wait to go back to Sunriver Village to enjoy more shopping, grab another ice cream, and just spend more time in this cheerful, welcoming place.
The only thing I felt frustrated about is I wanted to send a piece of mail a postcard and a card and not a single store sold stamps. There was also not a single mailbox anywhere in this particular village. With that said, I asked a woman who was standing outside of what looked like a concierge spot, and every person standing there dug into their wallets or handbags. One lovely person pulled out a stamp for me. I still had to drive to the post office to mail it, but I thought it was fabulous that she refused to take money for the stamp and told me to pay it forward. I have since...
Read moreSun River reminds me of a very flat, very spread-out ski resort.
We visited because we were told it has 37 miles of bike trails, both paved and I paved. It came highly recommended by several people in Bend and we thought it ideal as my wife does not like to ride a bike in traffic.
Unfortunately for us, the day we picked to head there was not a good day. It turned out to be the first rainy day of the week and the season. Also, we got there late and the combination of late-hour and dark clouds made the place seem very cold and not as rider friendly.
I have to say that is how it felt that day but personally, I found the village to be very interesting, with lots of restaurants and bike-rental shops, an open-air ice rink and further into the village, even a water park and pool.
I think it would be nice to actually live in the area and although I haven’t bothered to look at home prices, I can tell living there would most likely be out of our price range. I mean, it has its own airport…
Still, I gave it four stars because bad weather is not the village’s fault, it seems the amenities are plentiful and we did drive around the entire spread of homes, (took about 20 minutes) easy to do if you follow the directions to the numbered driving circles.
I would like to see Sun River in summer and ride a bike around, and also in winter, perhaps do some Nordic skiing around the area? I’d that a thing there?
I do recommend a visit and while your heading out there from Bend, visit Lava Lands and the Museum. Those are...
Read moreSeveral great shops catering to the seasonal activities of the area with your typical tourist trap shops that you find at the coast or some roadside attraction. Everyone was very friendly about dogs barking nobody got upset which was really nice to see however it's disappointing to watch so many locals wandering around with mass covering their mouths and if anybody said you need to cover your nose then going off about how mass are only for mouths. I don't know what's going on out there as far as covid-19 but they're definitely is a reason their backtracking. Also don't bother going into any bookstores there these people have got to be the most eluded individuals I asked where the local books for activities would be in both book shops and both people glared at me and then waved their hand in a direction and said they're over there and the second shop the guy just walked away after that even though it was at the register and there was a woman behind me wanting to pay and so she just set her stuff down Said thank you I guess I'll go by this summer...
