In summary. Mediocre food, friendly service, and decent atmosphere, and over priced. Read more below.
The food was alright. There were some items on the menu that were amazing, but for the most part I was very unimpressed. The bread was good and the coffee was great (belatazzar (sp?) makes good coffee roasts). Other than that everything with eggs was rubbery and lacked flavor. The sunny side up eggs looked great, but it lacked so much flavor and texture I was impressed that they were able to imitate microwaved eggs so well (or maybe they did use the microwave). The omelette looked great, but again… still lacked tons of flavor. I was happy that they seared the onions before putting them into the omelette unlike other places that throw in raw onions.
The service was very friendly and very accommodating. The only thing that knocked it down from 5 stars is that they require you to get your own water. Which is fine, but kinda disruptive when people had to get up all the time to fill the small glasses. I suggest that they use pitchers instead.
The atmosphere had a lot of loud noises from people behind the counter, which wouldn’t be so bad if they had more noise dampers. Otherwise, lots of natural light and good spacing between tables that I didn’t feel cramped. But that noise… it made me jump on numerous occasions when someone would slam something...
Read moreMy husband and I own a house in Sunriver and frequent this restaurant and Marcello's quite often. We have always had 5-star service, which keeps bringing us back. This past week-end, however, the story was a bit different. In need of a walk and lunch I had trekked the 2.5 miles from my house to your restaurant. I forgot to take water and I walk fast, so I might have shown up a bit out of breath, especially since the weather is a bit drier in Sunriver than I am accustomed to. I'm not sure why, but I felt ignored for awhile by the staff. Then when I was seated I was given a small paper napkin. This didn't seem strange at first, but then I looked around and noticed that I was the only one in the restaurant without a cloth napkin. I asked for another napkin when my food came and was again offered a paper napkin until I specifically asked for a cloth napkin, which the waiter kindly got for me. For most of my lunch I was given the impression that I should not have been there. The waiter did make up for that feeling about halfway through my meal and the remainder of my visit was more enjoyable. Please keep in mind that those of us who are part-time owners frequent the restaurants where we feel most comfortable and that other plans might be interfering with our plans to move there permanently. I hope to feel more welcomed in your restaurant when I return...
Read moreI’m super disappointed in the FOH staff. The food was delicious and phenomenal, however, the service was horrible and I only placed a takeout order. It’s Mother’s Day so it’s to be expected they’re going to busy. The two ladies at the front were so rude to customers, I literally saw smiles disappear. First, it isn’t necessary to aggressively put down a yellow notepad for a waitlist. Most people in line will understand if you’re overwhelmed but it’s up to you to communicate that. Second, when I asked for a bag for my food, I was asked if I had paid. There wasn’t any eye contact and she wasn’t even facing me so I didn’t even think she was talking to me at first. I showed her my receipt and she bagged my food. There were other orders on the counter and they never asked for my name or what I ordered. When I arrived home, I noticed the extra bags and managed to get part of someone else’s order. I was really surprised when I overheard one of the ladies tell the other they were going to make coffee like someone (won’t mention names unless contacted by the restaurant) for the not-great customers. The sad part is the service ruined the entire experience for me, even if I was eating at home with family. I feel bad for anyone who went there with the intention of celebrating their mom today and had to encounter...
