Disappointing experience this morning at Brewed Awakenings in Sunriver!
Disclaimer: The gals on shift were friendly and appeared to be working hard. I had good memories of visiting this coffeeshop a year or two ago, which is why I chose it over several other options at Sunriver.
Issue #1: THE WIFI DOES NOT WORK
I arrived expecting to stay for a couple hours to work. While the wifi password was clearly displayed on a chalkboard, after ordering my drink, I was unable to connect on my laptop or phone. I asked the staff to reset the router, which they did with some hesitation: "I think I can do that!" She told me it would take 7 minutes to reboot. While I waited, I overheard them discussing how much the "wifi is so bad here."
As a business owner, if you know the wifi is so bad, why don't you:
A) Instruct your baristas to tell customers that the wifi is unreliable before they spend money on a drink and get comfortable? It is misleading to withhold this information, not to mention develops poor brand loyalty
B) Get better wifi. It's screaming fast at the house we're renting here in Sunriver.
Issue #2: POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
In addition, I forgot to give them my to-go cup immediately upon ordering, but intercepted them as they were beginning to make my drink. The drink I ordered was 16 oz, and I told them my cup was smaller. Therefore, I had overpaid, since they'd already rung me up. They did not say anything: No offer of a refund for the difference, nor a "good customer service" tactic, like say, a couple chocolate-covered coffee beans.
#3: BAD MASK USAGE BY STAFF
Finally, while two of the three team members were wearing masks, the third had hers around her neck. While I was there, a friend of hers arrived, and walked behind the bar to say hello, wearing no mask.
Essentially, I paid $7 to wait for the internet to work (which never happened), was exposed to the very staff who work there, and then left.

Read moreWe go here every time we come to Sunriver. We love the lattes (though they are not as good as they used to be). The sticky buns are really good and the breakfast sandwiches can be good as well. But after spending $50-$75 to wait 30-40 min in insanely long lines (sometimes to be told they ran out of food items even after ordering them), I have concluded it’s not worth it.
The most disappointing experience was going through the drive through only to realize that the van in front of me was the Brewed Awakenings van delivering supplies through the drive-through window. I had to wait an additional 10+ min and would have gotten out of my car to help unload the van had my daughter not been with me. They should have told me when I was ordering that they would be unloading their van. But they clearly didn’t care. At least Starbucks would have provided me with a free drink card. But all I got was a weak “Sorry about that.”
