I normally have a good experience at buy-sell-trade stores including Platos. Today is Sunday and many of them are closed so I was happy to see this one is open and buying on Sunday. I check in 2pm and they text a link that shows you the update on the completion plus an estimate time of completion and it showed 330pm. A bit longer than usual, but I'm willing to wait. 330pm comes along and my items haven't been looked through or sorted yet so I call to get another estimate time and was told 45 more minutes. Instead of waiting in parking lot like I did for the first hour and a half, I decide to go get something to eat while I continue to wait. After I was just told it would be 45 minutes, they complete it 15 minutes later but now I've driven away and am stuck in another store. Not even half an hour after they let me know they were done, they send me another text basically saying "hurry up and get your things". I finally get there and pick up my stuff and mention to the girl the wait time was a bit inconvenient and she says yes they had a lot of people bring items in today. Ok fine, but when I called for another estimate and was told 45 minutes (after ive already waited an hour and a half because your system doesnt refresh the time) and I leave to kill time and you finish 15 minutes after that estimate and then text me to hurry up and pick up my things, that's unacceptable. That is a waste of people's time and incompetent and inefficient as a business. I resell clothing part time, but I can assure this place I will never come back and urge others not to either. Seek other ways to sell clothes, don't support a business that doesn't respect your time and also doesn't apologize to you after you complain. If this was my first time selling, I would probably be naive and not know, but when I'm used to the business, your excuses and inefficiency don't...
Read moreI had a very frustrating experience at Platoâs Closet, and I am definitely feeling disappointed. It's disheartening when your clothes are in good/ new condition, and you take the time to bring them in, only to feel like you're being judged based on size or age. Stores like Plato's Closet, while great for selling gently used clothes, can sometimes have a limited or narrow focus when it comes to the types of items they're willing to buy, and unfortunately, it often excludes plus-sized or more mature pieces. It can feel very dismissive, especially when they don't take the time to really evaluate the value of your items or see past superficial factors. Which this was totally the case , why you ask well their suggestions was to take my high end name brand things to other mothers which is more focused towards the mature generation.
I know thereâs definitely a market for secondhand for people of all shapes, sizes, and ages, and there needs to be more stores that are more inclusive and accepting of a broader range of styles and sizes stop hiring individuals with this mindset not everyone is a size 0 . I thought they would be a secondhand store that focuses on serving a more diverse customer base that could fill an important gap, offering quality options to people who may feel overlooked or undervalued in other places and Platoâs closet is not one one them nor do they hire individuals with that mindset.
Something needs to change the landscape of resale shops, making sure everyoneâs clothing is appreciated. Yes did they buy clothes YES they paid me around $60.00 ( my Justin Bieber crocs that are brand new and some soccer jerseys were about it but then I see them post clothing and I am like really , a lot of the stuff I brought in was new ( so nice try with the wear and stains have you see some of the stuff you...
Read moreHeard that this place buys name brand clothes and figured Iâd give it a go on some of my boysâ name brand clothes that didnât see much wear. I dropped the clothes off and the app checking in online showed they would be done in 45 min. I got a text 5 min later that they were done. They passed on all the clothes, which were nicer and better brands than what they had hanging up in the menâs section. I went and checked since Iâd never been in the store. When I got to my car I looked in the bag and saw all the clothes were still folded the way I put them in there. The place was busy and I think they just passed because they didnât want to look through it. I held the door for two teen girls who were madder than hornets when walking out because they both were carrying out bins that they passed on too. The only people working were a bunch of teen girls so Iâm guessing they need a bit of oversight and arenât getting any. Judging by the reviews, I donât see this place lasting. Iâll be curious as to what will take its place.
In response to the owner: you werenât there unless you are under 20 so you have no idea if they looked at my clothes. Even if you went back to look at your cameras as you claim on the numerous other 1 star reviews, you still are relying on their notes! The two girls that left upset were talking about being âpissedâ that the style was in and so much was sent back. Be truthful when dealing with the publicâŚit goes further than hiding behind your keyboard with made up stories! In regards to you all being there a while, time will tell, we all can make predictions. You all donât have a 3.6 rating because youâre...
