I have to say I have shopped in this same Pike Nursery on multiple occasions over multiple years. last year our home was actually on the Christmas tour of Holmes and I bought a plethora of merchandise which was delivered without incident. This year, however I had along with my husband, the most unpleasant shopping experience. The inventory was good enough that we still left with just under $900 worth of merchandise. I had to find help and the young man that helped us is actually the only person that was pleasant. He did seem rather new and he seeked other employees to ask questions (which I find outstanding) except the person he asked was Andy. He was a complete smart alec. Earlier I had set several items down on a table near the checkout counter inside and waved my arms to several of the cashiers (one in particular nodded her head at me) to say please don’t move these things, I’m going to purchase them, but I’m going out to the landscape area to add to this. When I came back in they were gone, so I asked the same middle aged large framed female who nodded to me, where they were and she said I put them away. She made no effort to go get them for me. She was a complete rude individual herself. To the clerk at the register, I told I’m sorry but I did wave her down and ask her to leave the things there. I know all of you are hot and tired, but she should’ve at least offered to go get them and return them to me but she did not. The cashier gave me a blank stare as if she didn’t care and told me my total. I said thank you she never said another word. I said thank you again and she said something like OK it wasn’t you’re welcome. It wasn’t no problem. It wasn’t have a good day. Nothing like that. No appreciation for just dropping $900 bucks. I do not like to write poor reviews but when they earn them they need them in order to...
Read moreThis is the first time I have ever written a bad review ever...but I feel the experience I had today at Pikes warrants this. I have been a longstanding customer for years as I love to garden. I went in today bc of their free ladybugs with purchase promotion that I received in the mail. My 8 yr old son was very excited about the ladybugs. When I went to pay for my plants they informed me that they were "out" of free ladybugs. Since I saw that there were many containers of ladybugs around the store I asked about them and the cashier informed me that those were bigger containers and for sale, not for free. Ok, but the big sign out font says free ladybugs and I asked if she could put a few in a bag for my son as advertised. She said she could ask the manager but when he came to speak to me I felt like I was speaking to Godzilla. I calmly and respectfully ask him the same thing and he harshly and repeatedly told me that he would do no such thing and that it was only while supplies last. I understand the message. No problem there... but the delivery was unacceptable. He said many more words but I just stared at him in disbelief that he was so angry and talking with a customer in such a disrespectful manner. His tone was very condisending and aggressive. I stood there silent for about 3 minutes while I decided if I still wanted to buy the plants. I made my purchase and calmly and silently walked away. I felt very upset to be spoken to like that and all the while he glared at me. A terrible feeling to say the least...at a plant store of all places. A kinder approach would have made a much better...
Read moreMy granddaughter and I stopped in last week to look for seeds for our aero garden. The staff was friendly and helpful, but not knowledgeable. I asked about fertilizers. One young man showed me a fish emulsion fertilizer he had heard a fellow employee talk about for hydroponic gardening. He said to call back and talk to him. I called the next day, but no one knew when this person was returning to work. No one at Pike knew anything about the product they had sold me. I called the manufacturer of the fish emulsion, twice on that day, and again on Monday. The woman answering the phone knew nothing about hydroponics, or the fish emulsion product her company makes. No one ever returned my calls. I was unable to find anyone on amazon reviews who used this fish emulsion in an aero garden. I ordered the floragro amazon users recommended. Today, I took the fish emulsion back to Pike. They refused to take it back, even as an exchange, because I was unable to find the receipt. Maybe I can give it away. Naturally, I won't be shopping at Pike in future. Their employees are very young, none of whom seemed to know anything about gardening. And their customer service...
