First off let me say I completely understand and respect equal employment opportunity. In the same breath there should be some type of dress code or fashion knowledgeable people working at this store. The girls who were looking through the items were not dressed or fashionable whatsoever. Everyone had on t shirts and shorts like they just left volleyball practice. How can you pass on someone items and your looking like you just woke out of bed? I had on a Skims top, Zara trousers and Offwhite slippers. I was told the items I brought in was “out of season”. I respect the fashion industry but if you’re not knowledgeable on fashion or can’t dress yourself how do you even have the qualifications to say what’s in or out of season? Furthermore, it makes it look like there’s a secret code of what type of people not to buy from because if you really knew fashion you would know adidas black, white stripes will NEVER go out of season. The girl made a comment that some of my items were from 2022? And if they were why does it matter? Brands like Altar'd State will never be out of style. I can’t take fashion advice from girls who don’t or can’t dress and wear t shirts and volleyball shirts to work. I thrift for a LIVING in West Hollywood Los Angeles, CA. So I know for a fact this store just isn’t taken items from a certain race of people I don’t even think have to mention my race it’s besides the point. Everything in the store was on sale for $1 so obviously something isnt working. Several girls in Toledo have said the same thing about this store, I don’t understand how they are still open. Plato’s closet would NEVER make it in California. Do better.
UPDATE: So the TikTok girlies said that the Plato’s closet workers check the date of the items on the tag inside the clothes to see when the item was released (month/year) I checked the date of the sweatsuit I bought from the Victoria secret store in (Hollywood) it’s says 8/23. So I guess a year is considered “out of style” so if you want them to buy your items you have to bring brand new clothes in straight from...
Read moreThis place deserves 0 stars in my opinion. I went in a month ago hoping to find some nice back to school items for my daughter. The staff was too busy gossiping with eachother to even acknowledge or help anyone. There were several of us just standing around waiting to be assisted to a fitting room while several staff members just talked and gossiped pretending to not notice us. I noticed only one staff member who was busting her ass doing all the work and helping and I could tell she was visibly frustrated with her coworker's. I felt so terrible for her. My daughter couldn't find much I noticed in other reviews people stating they don't take "out of date or worn items" most the things in there are out of date and we found many items with stains and holes! So it seems as though they are actually excepting trash items rather than what people with actual trendy clothing are...
