This review is solely for our grooming experience. The haircut was great but the service left more to be desired. We scheduled an appointment for our dog on a Sunday. We go in and drop off our dog and the groomers seem a little agitated and a little unfriendly. One was telling a dog on the table to shut up and not in a friendly way! They ask what we want done to our pomeranian and we tell the lady that we want his hair shaved. She replied back with "well he'll have to get shaved at least a little bit." Yeah, that's what we asked for! It made it seem like she didn't know what we wanted to get done! They originally told us it'd be 3 hours and now that has turned to 4. We left with regret and unsure if our dog will even get the right haircut after we restated what we wanted.
We come to pick up our dog and the lady just starts going off about how terrible our dog was. Saying that he was very aggressive and terrible at everything! Now I know this dog isn't perfect and it was probably his first time at a groomer (which just got him months ago and his hair was super long). Our dog has showed no signs of being aggressive with strangers touching him before, but we weren't there so who knows. BUT it doesn't seem very professional to just fire complaints off about someone's dog as soon as they come in. And they supposedly have 400 hours of training with 100 different breeds of dogs, according to their sign, so you'd think they would be able to handle these kind of things, right? I guess not because they have to add a $7 temperance fee to your bill! I know it's only $7 but these are trained professionals so why in the world would they need to compensate for such a minor inconvenience? The actual haircut was great, but it was the service that really spoiled the...
Read moreI brought my dog to petsmart to be groomed in March. When I dropped her off I informed Hannah that she could be a little nippy around one of her legs but the last few times I’ve taken her to get groomed at another petco location no one mentioned her trying to nip/bite them. I picked my dog up later that day and no one mentioned she tried to bite while being groomed.
In May, I called the Southfield location to set up a grooming appointment and was informed that she was banned from all petsmart locations due to her nipping and being stressed while there. I am not upset she was banned, however, I am upset that I was not informed of this banishment when I picked her up in March. I had to call the Taylor location to receive more details & was told that they are usually pretty good with explaining why a dog was banned from being groomed & there must have been miscommunication between the groomer & I. This, however, was unhelpful to me because there was NO communication of my dog not being able to return to any petsmart locations & the reasons as to why.
I appreciate the concerns the groomer had about my dog but I just wish those concerns were communicated to me by her and not another...
Read moreDO NOT RECOMMEND! OUR PUPPY HAS BEEN TRAUMATIZED!
Our puppy has been traumatized by this Banfield. She loves meeting new people and we know this because we have consistently socialized her with strangers in multiple different settings. Both times we have come here we have been told that we need to do a better job socializing her because she supposedly freaks out during her appointments. Due to Covid we have not been able to be in the room during the appointment to help calm her down, which I totally understand and respect, but we've NEVER met the vet that is taking care of our puppy. She is like our child. Would you ever trust your child with a doctor whom you've never met before?
I don't know what happened during her first appointment, but as soon as we walked into the store for our second appointment she started climbing all over me, crying and peed because she was SO scared! She has never acted like that before and she has no issues going into any other PetSmart store. While talking to some other customers I found out that this is a fairly common reaction from their pet(s) as well.
