
I started a gym membership on April 9th. After taking a tour of the gym, my husband and I were unhappy with its standards and upkeep. I felt very uncomfortable in that atmosphere and chose not to return. On May 1st, 2025, I formally communicated in writing that I had not used the gym and was canceling my membership. I sent my cancellation request both by mail and email.
According to the contract, payments are not supposed to be taken out until the 2nd of each month. However, on May 30th, they withdrew $69.76 from my account, despite my revocation of permission for automatic withdrawals. This payment failed because I had already revoked permission the previous month. On June 12th, they withdrew $89.76 from my account without my consent. Again, on July 1st, they attempted to take out $69.76 without permission.
The company sent me a text about the failed payment. I informed them and provided proof of my cancellation and revocation of payments in May. They claimed they did not receive my cancellation, which was false. After being directed to send my cancellation to another email address, I complied, yet they continue to insist that I cannot cancel the contract and that I am locked into it regardless.
I have not used any of the services, as the gym is in disrepair and entirely unusable. The environment is uncomfortable, unclean, and poorly maintained. Therefore, I am requesting a full refund and the cancellation of my contract due to their failure to provide the services promised in a clean and safe environment. Read moreI have been going to the tecumseh shape fitness for over 2 yrs now and out of all the employees I have dealt with the ONLY ONE to ever actually greet you, clean the entire time he is there, goes out of his way to be helpful and needs a raise and a promotion. Coming from a business owners I get how hard it is to keep good employees, but Kevin is definitely one of them. Honestly if he wasn't working there we would have switched gyms but due to his excellence we choose to stay and will stay while he is there.
However the lack of disrespect I see come from some of the customers just for them simply being asked to.scan their gym membership cards. They flat out ignore him and have absolutely no common courtesy for the simple rules that are posted everywhere and when the employee is just doing his job gives them no right to be such an a** or that they are so much better then the employee that they don't have too is ridiculous. I think those should be charged for an additional monthly fee for everyday they don't scan their cards but the employee he has stop what he is doing to do it for them even thoughtl they won't even acknowledge him. Read moreWe have had a family membership with the Shape Fitness in Tecumseh since December of 2023. We moved to Florida in April. Although there was some confusion in the cancellation process, the Veteran owners showed outstanding integrity, and we were able to resolve the issue. We love all that this gym has to offer, whatever type of workout you prefer. I love that it is always open and that there is a fun kid zone that my little ones loved. It was nice to be able to keep an eye on them while working out. We have yet to find another gym here in Florida that will allow our pre-teens to work out with us.
