Scream Dreams Indoor Haunted Attraction — Local services in Thomasville

First of all, 2 stars is being kind. We went through the entire experience and I believe this review is fair. Parking: Yes it’s $5. Not a big deal. We parked close to the entrance. Getting in: No where they tell you to show up hours early. We made a 8:20 appointment. Got there at 7:45. Got in the first gate at 9:15. The next line was longer. Also, They took forever to kinda wand you in. This is for weapons I guess. Weirdly my big metal belt buckle didn’t set anything off and it was hidden by my shirt. Could have been a gun. On the actual grounds: There was nothing to do. The band was so-so. But that was it. Not even a character actor walking around. Just us standing in line. Boring. The attraction: ok this is where it gets bad. Overall it was like this. Go to Spirit Halloween and walk around for an hour. We counted at most 11 actual people within the attraction. They tried to be scary but I ended up making them laugh. 99% of this place is mostly working animatronics and it’s the same ones over and over again. Guy on the ceiling yelling. Guy shaking in the corner yelling. Lots of doors to go through and nothing happens. The actual people there will announce you going to the next room to let the next person know you’re coming in. Weird. The positive: If you’re new to haunted houses and scare very easy, this place is for you. But soon you will get bored as well. We might take our 9 year old to it to be honest. He’s a scared of everything but this was PG so he will be fine. The negative: well...

I want to start by saying that the staff and scares were fantastic. However, I did have a few issues during my visit. I arrived later in the evening when the line was short, which was fine. The problem arose when the family in front of us had pre-teens whose behavior wasn’t what my friend and I were looking for—we came for the scares, not the chaos.

We initially asked to go through the trail alone, and while we were told yes, we ended up being paired with that family anyway. I understand staff may want to avoid scaring just two people, but the situation became awkward when one family member got into a dispute with the scare actor, which really detracted from the experience.

Overall, the haunted trail had great potential, and I might consider returning in hopes of a different group. However, the requirement to join a larger group of eight felt too much, especially when we didn’t know anyone else and some were acting a bit out of control.

Update- I would add on stars, however what’s really keeping me from doing so is a part I didn’t share(the interactive section with the woman where she makes you hold the door) saw we were kind of separate and she told us to wait outside the door while the other 6 went inside, she came out to get us and then we did the interactive part with her and then I guess it was the scientist next, he told me and my friend “who let yall in” and told us to skip his part and catch up with the rest of the group. I personally never leave reviews on anything but this haunt charges 20-40 dollars more than other local haunts. Me and my fiance got GA tickets online and showed up on time to be told we would have to pay "Cash" for parking (yet they have no issue taking cards to get in/for merchandise) we had to spend an extra 15-20 minutes locating an ATM just to even get in the parking lot. While in line, the unnecessarily aggressive security guard makes us leave anything but our phones/wallets with them and was just absolutely rude for no reason, despite us being nothing but respectful, and still excited to get in. Once inside, everytime i even glanced at my cell phone for time checks, and once to forward a phone call, i was snapped at and accused of taking photos (never took any!!). The whole place had maybe 8-10 actual scare actors in a 25 minute haunt (Not 45 minutes as the website states either) THIS PLACE IS MADE OF 95% CHEAP ANIMATRONICS. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME. I am not affiliated with any other haunts but i do visit all i can throughout NC in the fall, and i have NEVER been treated so poorly as a paying customer in ANY establishment. They clearly only care about taking your money. ALSO, Our friends we met with there had the full VIP Package and they too felt incredibly ripped off and were treated poorly by staff.
