PAY IN CASH Their 3rd party app for online ordering used my card information the day after my purchase, placing an additional transaction to charge me the difference for "recently updated pricing"...or at least we were told it was for the price difference, we never saw the new pricing.
The food is excellent, I will give credit where it is due. However, this restaurant has chosen to use a 3rd party app for online ordering. I ordered Thursday, and the menu pricing/total (as it was listed and has always been listed when we order) was charged to my account. The following day, an additional $11 was charged as a completely separate purchase. We thought, a mistake is no biggie, its just $11 and we go there all the time, they'll make it right as they have so swiftly in the past. My husband just went to the restaurant to get a quick refund or credit, and this is what the manager had to say (paraphrased):
Pricing was recently increased (totally acceptable), but the prices have not yet finished updating to show correctly on the menu, they have only been updated in the transaction part of the app. We will not be giving you a refund for this.
While I can totally understand something like that happening with an app and updates, that discrepancy isn't on me, you showed me a price and I agreed to it. It's also a little odd/unsettling that it doubled back and charged me the difference the next day, rather than the full updated amount the first time.. It's unfortunate that a restaurant that my husband and I have loved and been going to for years pretty much just swindled us with false advertising, then told us to shove it. I can tolerate poor business acumen and incompetent management from a restaurant that makes really great food, but topping it off with this kind of slick theft then refusing to make it right turned me all...
Read moreFirst I want to say how helpful the owner was explaining the different dishes to me since I dont know a whole lot about El Salvadoran food.
Secondly, I want to say that the sauce that came with the Pupusas might be the tastiest sauce I have ever had at any restaurant. I have no idea what it was except I guess it may be carrot based. It was not hot at all but holy moly it was EXQUISITE. I truly could drink it.
I got the Pupusas mixed on the owners suggestion and I went with the three that he recommended (pork, bean and cheese). I have had Pupusas before and I thought they were ok but these were just amazing! They came with this vinegary type slaw that I really liked but it is heavy on the vinegar.
My dining partner got the cheese quesadillas. She gave me a bite and they were good. But the rice and the beans were the real stars. The rice was fluffy and full of flavor and the refried beans were just plain good (not heavy and oily like some spots).
I got the order to go and the owner told me it would take about 15 minutes because they make everything to order. I will be back to try some of the other dishes that I am not...
