I had a very disappointing experience at Ross (6545 Spring Stuebner Rd, Spring, TX). I was racially profiled by employee and manager.
On 9/29, I purchased a wrap organizer that turned out to be defective. I left it in my car so I could return it when I had time. A few days later, I stopped by this Ross location after work to make the return.
I explained to the employee, Rachel, that I had a return and showed both the item (in its original packaging) and the receipt. Instead of processing it, she began speaking with her manager in Spanish, and I overheard him tell her not to accept my return. She told me I needed to go back to the exact store I purchased from because it was policy. I told her this was not true as I shop at Ross frequently spending hundreds of dollars a month. She then stated that she didn’t know if I was “lying.” She even asked me, word for word: “Did you break the item or was it already broken?”
I was shocked. I explained that the item was only $10, why would I waste time returning something I broke myself? Especially If I hadn’t mentioned the defect, they likely wouldn’t have noticed it at all. Rachel then told me, “I don’t want to say you are lying, but I don’t know if you are telling the truth.” Meanwhile, the manager walked away quickly and avoided addressing the issue.
Both Rachel and the manager laughed and were dismissive, which made the situation even more humiliating. As a paying customer with proof of purchase, I should never have been treated with such disrespect or made to feel profiled and judged because of the color of my skin.
This experience left me extremely disappointed in how this store treats its customers. No one should be made to feel belittled or disrespected over a simple $10 return. I can't ever see myself treating others with such disrespect over $10/hr. I hope it was worth it. I expected more from Rachel and her manager since they are both minorities as well but this is Texas so I shouldn't have...

Read moreI had my first bad experience at Ross this morning. I went in to return some jeans. I had the receipt and all the tags except the price tag. They were only $11.99. There were only two employees at the front and I asked about the return and was told to go through the purchase lane which had no one in it. I did as I was told and handed the girl my receipt and all the tags that I took off the jeans. The clerk asked me if I had another receipt. I said why would I have another receipt. then she said do you have the price tag and I said there was not one. I pointed to her where the jeans were on the receipt and she issued a refund. Both ladies were discourteous Neither one welcomed me in or even said have a great day. I had just bought the jeans the Friday before the Monday that I came...
