Blōōfin Spring — Restaurant in Tomball

Update: thank you to the owner of Blōōfin for not only replying to my review, but also for offering to speak in person to hear more about my experience. He also shared the actions that were taken to be sure customer experience is improved. He also invited us out to the new Woodlands location for their soft opening and to meet in person. The service and food was fantastic. I highly encourage you to try both locations. The 1 star review is because of our experience as soon as we walked in the door. We went to celebrate our daughter’s birthday with friends we have not seen in a while. We made a reservation in advance to ensure the start of a nice evening. We arrived and there were a number of people waiting. We made our way through the crowd and approached the hostess stand to check in. Several hostesses and manger or owner were standing there. Upon giving our name, everyone standing there looked disappointed and unsure what to do, as multiple said “oh, there’re here”. A big group standing there waiting to be seated overheard them and also said “they’re here”. We were on time for our reservation, but it was obvious that our table was promised to that other party and it appeared they were about to be seated at our table. Everyone just looked confused…..while we left feeling upset and not welcomed. Obviously the manager or owner noticed the look on our faces and came over to the table and apologized saying they were not giving away our table. The waiter was great and the food was great. I spent 20+yrs in the restaurant industry and I know how competitive the industry is and experience is everything! I always coached restaurants that the customers experience begins before they even walk in the door. They should have been happy we were there, since there are many other choices. A couple of weeks ago I passed by this place and after reading some of the reviews on yelp, I thought I'd give it a try.

Came in with my family and we were immediately seated and tended too which was great. We had to ask for things like extra plates and silverware since our table didn't have enough by the time our food came out but the servers were really good about trying to get them to us quickly.

The food was for the most part pretty good. My favorite thing today would probably have to be the fried calamari. Definitely worth every penny. It was excellently cooked, and the fried noodle bed it's served with is perfect. But, for the other dishes its a hit or miss. Some of the rolls were quite good (Shaggy Dog and Dragon Roll). But, the crazy roll and volcano roll weren't anything out of the ordinary. The wagyu skewers were also quite good, but not really worth $15 (but hey, it's wagyu beef).

The bento boxes for $13 dollars are definitely worth it (although the portion of rice they give is a little skimpy). We were able to try the teriyaki beef, salmon, chicken, and shrimp between 4 of our bento boxes. Unfortunately 2 portions of our salmon were INCREDIBLY salty. It was so salty that after eating half of it, the top of my lip started to blister over.

However, after letting our server Brianna know, she happily got us some more rice to help with it. Shortly after, the chef, Jason, came out for a second time during the meal and apologized and offered to cook us two new pieces. He was very nice about it and even gave us 15% off our bill for our trouble.

Overall the great service from the chef and the staff definitely earned this place 5 stars. They're still new and working out the kinks, so it's understandable. This will definitely be our go to place for sushi & japanese locally. WAYY better than the Shoguns on 2920 and...

I came here for my birthday, and I’m not kidding but this place has the best sushi u can just tell there is a whole lot of care and thought put into every dish. The fish is very fresh and isn’t fishy at all of that makes sense it just taste like quality the atmosphere is clean and elegant they even provide feminine products in the bathroom if needed which I think is just such a thoughtful touch. And the service.. the service is exceptional. I had the pleasure of dining with Demi tonight and she is just the sweetest and kindest person. She went above and beyond for my birthday with the sweetest touch of having a banner app on her phone and had the banner read “happy birthday beautiful” which I was just in awe about because she took the time to get that app I’m sure she has had it but most people wouldn’t think to do that I know I never did and I am a server and she personally brought me mochi and sang me happy birthday which really made my night and I guess she wanted more for me so she brought the whole gang of servers over to sing again which very much caught me by surprise but it was just so genuine and kind of her and them to come do it again. I know this has been a very long review but I just want to take some time and brag on how awesome they were anyway back to the food I got to try the 72hr slow roasted wagu and it was AMAZING every bite few they were was simply decadent and I would have ate 4 more orders of just that but I wanted to try everything so I got three sushi rolls my favorite of which was the angus beef roll which I never expected to see on a sushi menu but I was delightfully satisfied with it the flavor was perfect and I’m gonna be dreaming about this meal for a while and the spicy edemome idk how to spell it but it is definitely a must try I get it every...
