I have an antique wall clock and brought it in to see if it was in working condition. The woman who I spoke with was very unhelpful and unfriendly. I told her I don't believe it’s broken but I’m not an expert on clocks, and I just want an expert opinion and someone to show me how to keep it working. She told me that she would have to “replace all the workings” and that it would be $425. But she did not check to see if the clock could work as it is. She also said “someone has taken it apart” but the only piece that was detached was the pendulum (to protect it during moving). She also said it was from the 80s, however, it is from New Haven Clock Co which closed in 1956. I asked her to explain why I need to replace the inner workings if the clock can work as it is? But she was very rude and said she “does not need the work” and to go try somewhere else. I was very polite and normally would not leave a bad review on a local business- but after getting home and doing some clock research I was able to wind the clock and it works perfectly! It’s a shame this woman was not willing to explain anything to me and was so short and...
Read moreI cannot say enough about this place. Bev is amazing and does great work. Took my grandmother's cookoo clock to her after it was neglected for years. She replaced and repaired nearly everything in it. Back to it's former glory. After getting it home and running it for a few weeks it stopped every now and then. I took it back to her after she tried to help me troubleshoot it over the phone. She took it and ran it for a month and found the issue with the new movement and the cables. Got it back and it runs great! So glad to have this family memory back to working order. She charged me only for the original repair and didn't charge to track down the issue where it kept stopping. Pricing was incredibly reasonable and I am so happy to have it back. She has a lot of beautiful clocks in her store and I wish I had more room in my house for more...
Read moreI had the opportunity to ask the watchmaker about fixing a Howard Miller mantle clock movement. She is very rude and not customer friendly. I asked the price to repair the movement and she stated $245. I had done my research and I told her that I could get a new one for that price. She then shoved the movement across the counter to me and said, "then do it".
She also said that it would take 6 to 8 weeks. So end of story, I found a new movement on the web for $35.00, installed it and its working fantastic. Do your research before you commit to her or anyone in any kind of a business. If you treat customers like this, you will eventually suffer for it....
