Another amazing visit to Cavallarioās, my must go to when visiting ABay! The ambiance alone is worth a visit! Both the outdoor bar and patio and indoor bar and restaurant area are trendy and give off the vibe of upscale dining. The knight from past eras still overseeing the indoor seating is reminiscent of earlier times for the establishment. I ordered the Steak Maison which was cooked to perfection of medium rare, the Bernaise sauce brings it up a notch with some crab shredded on top. Only the Alaskan crab topping was questionable as it was shredded and not the texture of authentic Alaskan crab but was still delicious. Mashed potatoes were scrumptious and fresh hot bread with butter. No dipping oil for the bread and salad is now a separate but with the cost of food rising and the economy in general that is understandable. Amazing food and great service at the bar! I stopped back Sunday and scored a high top on the patio with an amazing view of the stage. I ordered another favorite the prime rib, provolone, and pepper in an egg roll with a tangy, spicy dipping sauce! The patio is packed and service is slower but thatās what you would expect at the most popular restaurant in town! I hope to be back this season, Iām intrigued by the stuffed shrimp entree!
Visited Memorial Day weekend. We beat the rush so seated immediately. I get steak Maison every visit itās my favorite and on my must have list every visit to ABay! Unfortunately this visit was a miss. I ordered the steak Maison medium rare with mushrooms on the side and a pomegranate martini. Martini was refreshing perfect Pom a bit sweet. Service was prompt even with the dinner crowd picking up. Upon delivery the steak Maison was served with mushrooms on the side but also mushrooms on top with Bernaise sauce over the mushrooms and if possible even less crab than last visit. I had to scrape off the mushrooms myself which receded the toppings. Bernaise sauce was replenished but the few shavings of crab were lost in the mess. Once I cut in to the medallion it was extremely rare. I ate half and it was not the meal I am usually over the moon for. Disappointed but still ok. I donāt recall either of the two servers asking how my meal was or offering to refresh drinks. They did get to go containers promptly. I always enjoy the atmosphere here, I will try again. I think Iāll go a different direction with my meal...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came here on vacation with family and had never heard anything about Cavallarios before. It was a great decision! We had 6 in our party, we made a reservation and got seated within a few minutes of arrival. The outside patio looked beautiful and cozy, but being slightly off season (September), we sat inside. The decor inside isnt anything special and it is a little cramped, but not so bad that you are elbowing the next table.
The staff was phenomenal, we had at least 3 staff, possibly more, attending our group-the main server was consistent and she kept up with all of our restrictions and odd requests flawlessly (onion allergy, pregnant, etc). She also had several other staff assisting with things such as bringing out the food, keeping our water glasses full, clearing plates as soon as they were done. We never had a plate on the table longer than it needed to be.
Now let's discuss the food. Wow. Its a bit on the pricey side, but its worth it! We were all in heaven with our meals and nobody regretted a bite. Highlights: I am 5 months pregnant and have been having a lot of trouble finding foods that I can eat without getting sick, but I had the Mahi Mahi with pineapple and mango salsa and I havent eaten a full meal that quickly in months! It was perfectly cooked, had such a beautiful and balanced flavor, and was so satisfying. My sister had the orange duck and we were all obsessed with that sauce and were passing the bowl of it around the table to taste it. She does not normally eat full meals, but also cleaned her plate. The sweet orange sauce balanced the flavor of the duck, she loved the crispy skin on the meat. I ended up taking some of her sauce and mixing it into my rice after I ran out of my own salsa and it was such a tasty few bites. Everyone else in the family were thrilled with their meals, but those were the standouts that we all just had to taste. Overall, we were very pleased and would be happy to visit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCavallario's is the only restaurant in Alex Bay to get a quality meal. Some reviewers said it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. I have no issue dropping coin on steak and seafood, so if you're cheap, find a pizza joint to visit.
My husband and I were greeted by a very warm receptionist that was happy to seat us. Our server, Kim, greeted us with a smile and seemed to like where she works. My husband wanted to try the "Chicken Riggies," and Kim asked the cook if a half order could be done. We appreciated Kim making the extra effort to find out.
My husband ordered the Cavallario's Trio, and I had the Prime Rib and Lobster Tail. The beef was cooked perfectly medium-rare , and the seafood was not rubbery; melted in our mouths. I also want to take notice of the steamers we had for appetizers. I've never had cleaner clams than at this establishment. No sand and not overcooked; tender!
We had the key lime pie for dessert because it was homemade. It did not disappoint. My only suggestion would be not to put the steaks or prime rib over the mashed potatoes. When we return, and we will, I will ask them to put the mashed on the side. ...
