We were experiencing a leak underneath our kitchen sink and called Ed Young's. They were very friendly and very prompt about sending a plumber out. When the plumber arrived at our house he was very kind and very polite. He diagnosed the problem, and gave us an estimate of between $150 and $300 to fix the problem. One of the pipes under the sink had rotted, so the plumber replaced the rotted out piece of pipe with a piece of PVC pipe. That repair cost $272. He told us that due to water dripping behind the piece of drywall that was in front of the leaky pipe, we may want to run a space heater and air out the area under the sink. I did exactly as he suggested.
Over the next week or so it started to smell terrible under the kitchen sink. I called them back because I feared that mold might be growing behind a piece of drywall. Not only did they say it wasn't their responsibility to come out, but that they couldn't recommend anybody to come out to look at/remove the drywall. We had to have somebody else come out to remove the drywall, which in fact did have black mold growing like crazy on and behind it. Being 6 1/2 months pregnant and having a child with severe asthma, that could have become a very dangerous situation for us.
We started to experience other water issues and had called somebody else to come out and take a look. The pipe that Ed Young's had not been leaking, but was definitely crooked. I thought that it looked kind of crooked, but figured that I'm not a plumber, what do I know? When the next repair man came out he told us what a crummy job had been done, and he ended up having to fix it. Our new repair man did it much more quality work, at a much lower rate. My husband called to speak to Ed Young's and tell them what had happened, the crooked pipe, the black mold, etc. they apologized and offered to come out and fix the problem, but it had already been fixed. No refund was offered. While they were very polite and very friendly, that did not ensure quality work. Charging near $300 to replace an approximately 18 inch piece of pipe, I would've expected impeccable work. We will not be using at...
Read moreNeeded a water heater replaced in a hurry. Called Ed Young's at 2 pm one day and they arrived at 8:45 am the next day. They gave me cost of water heater in advance and and requested I send pictures by text of old water heater ( which was 20 years old) . Dave called me back promptly with water heater price. The Installer called me the next morning about 15 minutes before arrival and was here in a flash. He assessed the job and gave me price on re-doing the vent pipe and feed lines - which was needed according to the gas company. $200 extra dollars which seemed fair. Bryan was the installer and he was cordial and efficient and went right to work, removing the old water heater from the basement by himself and bring me a larger 50 gallon heater down by himself. He had everything re-done with new feed lines and gas and water back on in less than 2 hours. An hour later we had hot water. Many of my neighbors have used Ed Young's Plumbing and they also were very satisfied with their work. Many thanks for the folks at Ed Young's, my hometown (old school )...
Read moreI was frustrated at the pool of water on both sides of the house. Gutters were clean and sump pump was working so it was time to call a plumber. I was happy with my initial discussion of the problem and the estimate for service that I received. I was more than pleased with the professionalism of the two plumbers who arrived to solve the problem. Jeff and Scott knew exactly what was causing the problem. The underground pipes that carry water away from the house were clogged with mud, roots and leaves. Because the distance from the house to where the pipe would discharge water was a good distance from the house I envisioned a costly repair bill requiring excavation to reach the clogged pipes. They had all the tools required including an electrical router which required time to cut through all the debris logged in the pipe. Their customer friendly manner, their professionalism and keeping the cost to the original estimate are a credit to Ed Ed Young’s Plumbing and a bar for other plumbing...
