Amity Harbor Sports — Local services in Town of Babylon

Stopped into the newly redone Amity Harbor store on Montauk Highway in Amityville. I was shopping with my son for new skates as he is a referee out here in the island. The store staff was very knowledgeable, presented multiple options at our price point and helped my son make his decision. They got him sized in perfectly and baked his skates and he was good to go. While I was waiting, I got to look through some of their original merchandise and purchased a custom made sweatshirt for my daughter who is a club hockey player in NH. While I was poking around, I saw the same great selection of items even though the store size was reduced. The staff couldn’t have more helpful and giving of their time. My experience was top notch as usual. Despite covid they still made shopping with them a breeze. I was looking for one more last minute gift for my daughters birthday ( a pair of skates) and they were a huge help. They took the time to explain to me the different brands, what to look for in a skate, and what would get me the best bang for my buck. They also assured me that if the skates were too large, they already had a shipment of kids skates coming in 2 weeks and that I could easily exchange them when the shipment arrived. That alone sold me. Them taking the time to explain and answer all of my questions, their honesty, and their smoothness of service beats Amazon. Horrid customer service. I was helped by a 14 year old who kept yelling questions back to adults. The owners and other adults were standing by doing nothing and were too busy to help to answer my questions or make sale. Then when my wife called later in week to ask a question the person was rude and could not be bothered. He actually told her he is not running a charity when asked if we could return equipment. We will never go to this store again. Avoid the place if you are looking for people who care about their customers. In this economy you would think they would wanna keep customers.
