Jay Gorman gave me a great tattoo! My mother passed away a few weeks ago and I came from Texas to Long Island to see her, but Jay was one of my mom's neighbors and his son shoveled snow for her sidewalks and driveway for years. I went to talk to them and let them know what happened to my mom. In talking to Jay, I realized, it was time for a new tattoo and emotionally was thinking of getting an American traditional heart and scroll, Mom. But, that didn't really fit me stylistically tattoo wise, personality wise and she was anything but traditional. 90 years old, lived by herself and still drove, so it had to be something unique and original. Jay and I talked, looked for something that would work and we somehow got to Trash Polka. That was it! She even listened to the Polkas on the radio every Sunday afternoon A Trash Polka Heart and MOM in a banging font. Jay's design was killer and everything I wanted and more. The shop was nice, clean and friendly with a nice vibe to get tattooed in. Jay was professional, his application was spot on, but, tattoos should mean something and it basically lasts your entire life, so be happy with it, before the needle hits the skin. His patience and ability to work with the client and make it a joint effort, is huge. I haven’t had the itch to get a new tattoo in a while. It’s been so long that I really don’t have a relationship with a shop or artist anymore. With that being said my wife and I had recently decided to commentate our 10 year anniversary with matching tattoos. On our way to lunch we happened to drive past South Shore Tattoo. We went inside and were warmly greeted by the young lady at the desk. Very different from most shops who usually seem bothered by customers. The shop was bright , clean and stylish. Camm, our tattoo artist came over to us and was just as courteous. She went to work on our design and tweaked it a few times until my wife was happy. The entire experience was great from beginning to end, so much so we went back a week later for my mother in law to get her first tattoo (bucket list item). Everyone at the shop went out of their way to make her totally comfortable. Today feeling the itch again I went to the shop and had the same experience but this time with Mike the owner. I had no appointment but Mike managed to squeeze me in and banged out a great tattoo. I can’t say enough about this shop. I am completely impressed with their operation. Clean, courteous, professional. I won’t go anywhere else and I highly suggest you do the same if you are interested in getting tattooed....
