I am so disappointed in this company. After all the great reviews I thought surely they would be the kind to honor their own online promotions. Instead, I wasted about three hours choosing what I needed (over $1500 worth of products) only to, eventually, be told, despite removing the one mirror that would apparently have to come via freight from my order, that their shipping manager would not honor the free shipping on the rest, as advertised.
This is particularly sad because, given the nature of my business, they would have likely had a return customer for years to come, if only they had been honest. Business owners, beware!
Update: I have been threatened with "papers" for this review from the owner who is crying "slander". He conveyed that his "New York lawyers" (his words) would be in touch. Unbelievable... Just unbelievable!
I ask you... Whatever happened to customer service? You know, listening to the customer, understanding their problem(s), helping resolve issues if you can, and if not, above all else, acting courteously and professionally! Even if you are... (no, especially, if you are!) upset or frustrated?
No. I was not just called in an attempt to make amends and resolve the issue, (though, in fairness, the conversation started off with an apology I wanted to believe). In less than a minute, it had become glaringly obvious, (as his voice raised and I was talked over, time and again), that I had really been called in an attempt to get my review either taken down, altered, or somehow discredited. And, when that failed? I was bullied with the threat of legal action.
The thing is, I know I have the truth on my side. Which is far cry from what I can say for the owner at this point. Do you know that he even went so far as to look up my review history before he called? He cited that I made another negative review about a restaurant my family went to years ago. That previous Google review was the first I ever made...and it was THREE YEARS AGO! sigh
Oddly, part of me finds this funny, in a very sad kind of way. Until my experience, this company had had a stellar record, review-wise. My own experience and review, as negative as it certainly remains, is still just one perspective. Frankly, it barely effected his "google review score" at all. As I mentioned before, it is why I actually attempted to go with them in the first place. Some had even said something along the lines that, while they started out writing a negative review, they had changed it after some excellent customer service. Ironic, right?
I should hate to think that other reviewers were bullied into changing their story too. No. It is better to think that he actually did handle other business difficulties with better decorum. In fact, giving him the benefit of the doubt, I'd like to think that handling the situation with a modicum of grace and, again, customer service, would have changed my perspective on him and his company too.
Anyway, I've written the truth. Furthermore, I have never in my life been bullied into silence about the truth by anyone. On the contrary, trying to take away my first amendment right, will almost invariably mean I defend it with all I'm worth. Needless to say, we have ordered tons of items from discount shelving over the past couple of years, and now that they've moved, their showroom is even better than ever. Read moreWe ordered a millinery rack for our thrift shop that arrived damaged. The packaging was intact but the product was not. I sent an email for request replacement. I followed up with some photos of the damages and a new rack arrived promptly. When we opened the new one, we discovered the same damage occurred again. When Sue followed up to see how the new rack was, I told her that it arrived the same. Sue immediately followed up with me to see how to make it right. Clearly this was a manufacturers packaging problem, not the fault of Discount Shelving and Display. She said she would share this packaging issue with the manufacturer and offered a credit since I decided to keep it anyway and make the repair to the unit.
