I joined LaFitness in Levittown NY for use of the pool. I also wanted to use the Farmingdale NY LaFitness for the pool. I have a rare form of arthritis that has disabled me from running and jumping. The only exercise to get my heart rate up is swimming that does not cause joint damage. When I join ed, I met with a sale person. I explained, I wanted to leave my old gym because of pool closing for children lessons. I have kids of my own. I don't have any problem with giving kids swimming lessons. I go to the gym to unwind and reduce stress and for the kiddie pool. the British swim company bought the time even though I paid my dues in advance. When I joined LaFitness the salesman told me that they did not and would not close the pool for kids lessons like their competitor. Two months in to my membership greedy LaFitness Corp sells off to a private company British Swim company pool rights. They are a private company take time from the members who pay membership. They now close the pool Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 pm to 8 pm and a good part of the day Sunday. This is during primetime. When I asked for a refund of my prepayment because they changes. They said the club would have open times at either of the two clubs for lane swimming. I followed the schedule and went to Levittown and 3 lane were closed for an aerobics class. I have no problem with the closed lanes because of members and not a private company using the pool for a class. The sales people and company just tell you anything to get you to join. They outright tell you what you want to hear to join. Once you join they could care less about their members. I paid 3 years in advance to help the sales guy out but he was BSing me all the way to the bank. The incompetence and outright bad business practice makes this company the worst. The looker rooms are dirty and smells. The sinks are not clean. The shower half the time have no soap. They could not even clean the snow off the sidewalk in front of their club door. Monday, I asked at the fitness desk when the spin class started. I got a look of death. How could I ask a fitness instructor when the class started. He told me to look around for a schedule. He was just sitting at the desk not doing anything and could not help. I walk the gym they don't have it posted. I have the app on my phone and push location finder. The app can't even find the club when I'm right infront of it. I put the zip code and the town, still can't find a club. I can I make a reservation for a bike, a class or see the class/pool schedule. Do yourself a favor stay away from LAFitness. There much better places to workout that are clean and helpful. They are the worst and mislead the customers. Poor! very Poor! Farmingdale overall is filthy. Dirty, smells, and they can even vacuum the floor. Every locker has...
Read moreLets just say I came here as a guest with my boyfriend one night and was asked to leave my drivers license at the front desk and that it would be returned to me after. We were done with our workout around 5 min after midnight and the guy at the front desk had left. I asked other employees if they knew where my ID was and they had no idea. They were all looking for it and could not find it. One of the employees said that the guy that I had given my ID to was looking for me and one other person. The only ID ;left there was that of another girl. So in my head I'm thinking they lost it or he had given my ID to the other girl. Mind you when they had found that other ID they gave it to me and I said this is not me. I left with no ID and said I would call and come back in the next day being that it was after midnight. That messed up my work schedule the next day, being that I had 3 meetings in NYC and all bulidings require you to show a photo ID. Which is potential commission and a loss for the company that I work for. Not only that they would not answer any of my phone calls and were stating that no one had taken my ID because they are not allowed to do that. This went on and on and the story always changed. They did not except any responsibility and could not care less that someone had access to all my personal information. Later that day the girl i guess realized that they had given her the wrong ID and returned mine while getting her ID back. I had also filed a lost item report at the police station for identity reasons and they had said LA Fitness in Farmingdale is a mess. I also heard that people have had things stolen and guess what there are zero cameras in the place. Definitely do not waste your money in this place it is run by untrustworthy,...
Read moreThis gym is amazing. I went to their Farmingdale location NOT expecting to sign up. I just wanted numbers. Fast forward almost a week and a half later and I'm in their Personal Training program as a client.
There are different tiers for days and timeline that can be expected for the results you want.
Frank (I think) talked me through the process, showed me the gym and greeting me with genuine problem solving for my questions.
Brixhilda brought me onboard for personal training. Answered all my questions and welcomed my uncertainties with trust and care. She went through the program further and highlighted how the trainers were going to meet and exceed my needs while being my coach throughout the journey. And while she is giving me her attention, she manages her department effortlessly.
Ryan is my personal trainer. Worked with him two days so far and my body is sore but NOT in pain, which is key. I still feel able to gather energy and give strength when I need it, while being pushed to get to my best. He listens when I tell him I'm at muscle failure or want to go through motions as smoothly as possible. Always smiles.
And I get it. I'm paying for a service. But the level of commitment provided through all levels of communication allows me to place personal belief and safety in their hands.
I've been to Planet Fitness and or Personal Trainer programs. Didn't feel the same.
Their team is growing from what I understand at this location which means that client slots are open. There haven't been any people dropping weights or screaming at the top of their lungs and things feel communal. If that's not incentive, not...
