Lidl is hands down my favorite supermarket. I've been coming to this location specifically since it opened a few months ago and while the selection is phenomenal the employees are AWFUL! Multiple times I've had employees have trouble ringing something up and rather than get a manager they tell me I can't buy it bc its not actually for sale since it's not in their system. Even tho it was on their shelf with others and has a price tag on it. Last time I shopped there I my order was over $400 and the last two items to be scanned were ribeye steaks that were on a deep discount and I picked up the last two, I was so excited. The cashier had been huffing and puffing and complaining to his coworker the ENTIRE time he was ringing me up, as well as throwing my items since there was so many. His mask was under his chin and at no point during my visit did he ever fix it. Well as he scans the steaks he says he needs to call the manager over bc they're not coming up the right price. So we're waiting awhile and the coworker who is not ringing but just hanging out with him, leans over and they whisper to eachother, and then she leans over and yells at me, "oh you can't buy those. Theyre not for sale." She was SO absolutely rude and so I asked her then why were they out on the floor with price tags? She says "idk but you can't buy them." I told her I'd like to continue waiting for the manager. When he finally arrives the line is long and the employees are obviously aggravated and the manager takes 30 seconds to correct the price and we paid and left. The entire experience was so uncomfortable and my boyfriend and I were made to feel as if we were in the wrong. Not one employee, manager included, bothered to apologize to us for their system error and the long wait and inconvenience we experienced. Instead they all treated us like we bothered them. Neither the manager nor the employee said one word to me once I paid. The cashier literally faced away from me and stuck his arm out as far as it could go to hand me my receipt. Sadly this isn't the first time these employees have been simply rude. It's super frustrating bc this location is very convenient but I'm considering going back to the morriches location bc their employees were always pleasant...

My family and I have been going to Lidl since it opened, it's always been my favorite spot, all my interactions there have been super positive. But last time I was in there I had my empty reusable bags in my cart ready to pack my things, it was my turn I said "hello, how are you?" the manager Katherine immediately demanded I shake my reusable bags out and show her, she was shaking her hand at me, in between talking loudly on her earpiece. I was baffled I said no one ever asked me that before in all the years I was coming there....I hesitated then asked if she thought I was stealing, half joking...and she said "YEP!" and nodded then she followed it up with "it's store policy". I was absolutely speechless. I shook out the bags as she continued yelling into her earpiece at someone. I didn't say another word to her, I'm not a confrontational person and I am currently recovered from a mild traumatic brain injury so being in stores with fluorescent lights and noise are hard enough for me, I paid about $100 for my items. She handed me an almost blank receipt so I have no way of checking what she rung up. As I was leaving I asked her name cause she didn't have a name tag, she snapped "Katherine, in case you wanna try and call on me, I'M THE STORE MANAGER!!" as if that gave her free reign to treat customers however she wanted. Little did she know my father was on line one person ahead of me, he always accompanies me to stores in case I get symptoms and start to get faint, he had his bags in his cart same as me, she never asked him to shake or show his bags. Dear Lidl Customer Service,
I am writing to express my outrage and disappointment at the treatment my mother and I received from the manager at the Lidl store located at 800 Montauk Hwy, Shirley, NY 11967 on April 5th, 2024, around 3:00 p.m.
We had a previous issue with a plant purchase and were told by a manager that we could return it with a receipt or receive store credit. However, when we went to return it, the manager on duty was extremely disrespectful and humiliating towards my mother. She yelled at us in front of other customers, stating we wouldn't get our money back, despite having the receipt. My mother was left in tears and felt embarrassed.
I later went to the Center Moriches location and spoke to the manager, who was kind and helpful. They assisted us with the return and provided a store credit. However, I felt compelled to return to the Shirley location to address the mistreatment. I spoke to the staff, who acknowledged the manager's behavior was unacceptable.
I am disappointed that the manager failed to provide basic customer service and respect. I hope Lidl takes this incident seriously and takes appropriate action to ensure such behavior doesn't...
